Future TSX Buyers : Possible Group Buy in North California?

Future TSX Buyers : Possible Group Buy in North California?
I was contacted by two members if I was interested in purchasing a TSX together in North California so we can negotiate on the price with the dealer easier. I don't know how much cheaper it will be at this time, but if I can get a number on how many people are interested, I will start contacting around.
If you have trade-ins, I recommend selling it in private. It would be difficult to negotiate out each person's trade-in value with all the Acura's.
We're planning to purchase an 05 model around December, but can delay or make it earlier.
If you are in, please PM me
- when you would like to purchase your TSX, please indicate if you MUST have it by then or you can wait.
- your city
- with or without Navigation on your TSX
Plan
- I will keep collecting people's name until 11/01
- Once the 05's invoice, MSRP value of the car are released, I will start contacting dealerships.
I hope this works out, I don't know if this kind of thing was done before or not.

Well, I am not 100% definate I will buy one by this December, however there is a possibility if the price is right. I also need to know what's new on the '05 TSX to help me make my decision. But you may contact me. Interested in '05 with navigation, carbon grey with spoiler.

Awesome, from what we know 05 will have XM radio, power passenger seat, lighted steering wheel buttons, new interior color for red, and HOPEFULLY some issues in the 04s such as rattles worked out.

If I dont get a 2004 in the next 24 hours I'm definitely buying a 2005 TSX. 6-speed with Navigation. I've already talked to some dealers about 2005 pricing and got a quote of 1000 over invoice on that particular model. The car is not supposed to be available until December so I don't mind waiting ... count me in for a group buy.

If interested i could talk to several dealers in LA too.

I think you should, that way we could take the lowest price we're offered and call dealerships from our towns and say "we're being offered this from here...can you beat that price? And I'm guessing they would want to beat that price in order to sell around 12 cars. It would only help us.

We currently have 15 people that are interested. Jeffropugs, please send me your email. I think once the 05 pricing is out, it's a good idea to negotiate in both LA and in North California. I'll do the following in north california. If anyone wants to negotiate anywhere else in North California, it would be great.
Sunnyvale Acura
Autowest Acura of Stevens Creek
Los Gatos Acura
Hopkins Acura
Mike Harvey Acura
Acura of Pleasanton
Acura of Serramonte
Oakland Acura
These dealers have told me that once they give us the price, they need a non-refundable deposit of $1000 from each buyer because their experience was that.. "an individual would say 20 people are buying after him, but once that individual buys it for the low price, no one showed up." So these would be the steps that would "most likely" happen.
1. Wait for invoice/msrp price of 05 Acura TSX to be officially released. - current process
2. All of us that want to go haggle at all dealerships in California saying we have about 10~20 people that are interested in purchasing at 1 dealership that offers the lowest price. We would like to buy around December.
3. Decide on dealer and price.
4. Contact all members that were interested and make the list of people that are buying official.
5. Buying members have to make their specs official (which options, which color, transmission, etc.)
5. Collest non-refundable deposit.
6. One leader goes pay non-refundable deposits.
7. Soon as car arrives, we go get it.

The non-refundable deposit sounds reasonsable to me for the group buy. However, I do have this concern. Will the exact color/option that we want be guaranteed? I don't want the dealer to say "take the one we have or leave your 1000 bucks" if they don't have the one we want. For example, out of the 15 potential buyers, I'm guessing half of them are CGs. Do they have 7 CGs in their lot, and all matching the option we want (transmission + navi)? Most likely a few of us will need to wait till the next shipment. For me I'll have to weigh in the amount I save in the group buy to decide if the wait is worth it.

Hey Kenji, I'm in the same predicament too! But I think I'm leaning more towards the Arctic Blue because you mentioned it, everyone seems to go with Carbon Gray. Blue on black isn't so bad. But what I really want to know though is if PWP with the Ebony interior is going to be available for 2005. If it is, then definitely I'm going to go for that. *crosses fingers*

I'm in NY, and I'm trying to coordinate a similar deal. Someone from OR contacted me with interest and I thought maybe we could look into car distributors that sell online. If we could wourk out the logistics, I'm in for December on a 2005 CG 5AT w/nav.

interested in texas
Hi everyone... My first post, but I've been lurking for about 8 or 9 months now. I was ready to buy a 2004, but decided that I really want the steering wheel lights, XM, and hopefully some of the reported rattles to be worked out. I'm looking to buy in Nov-Dec-Jan timeframe too, so if we could get internet group-buy, I'd be interested...
OR... if anyone knows where I could find a 2004 milano-red, 5AT/navi, I think I could easily be convinced to forego the lights and XM. I know it's a rare combo...
PS... love the forum. I already feel like I know the car, when I haven't even bought it! test drove about 3 months ago, and can't wait to own my TSX!

Me tooo
This if my first post too and I have been lurking here for almost a year now.
I am definitely interested in a group buy. Acura of Pleasonton offered me a 04 for $1200 below MSRP. Dont know if thats a good price at all.
What is the ball park we can expect for the prices on 05s? Just an approximation is what i am looking for. I need to decide if I should wait a month more for the 05 or just go ahead on buying the 04. BTW I am interested in a NHB/Ebony combination.

Just have a thought about getting ur group deal from southern cali...
What you should know is that you really shouldn't drive on freeway for that long under 3k miles.. Within first 3k miles, you engine's breaking in and you shouldn't put 500 miles coming from LA crusing at 70~80 mph (which is a little high for a new engine IMO) on I-5. New engines need breaking-in time and crusing on freeway on same speed for long time is NOT recommended by anyone or car manual.
I mean you could take time on that 500 mile trip, resting every 30 mins and varying your RPM between 2.5k~3.5k or so, but.... It's a lot of time/money to do that when you wanna get $500 deal.
Well, I'm just thinking you guys should stick with dealers in Northern Cali cause price can't differ thta much in same state within 500 mis... Just drive your new car safe and break-in well.
I'm really interested in buying a TSX, but I don't think I can afford a new car for now. Just keep it in Bay Area and deal well. It will return better result for all of you.
I was just saying cause I was concerned. I hope you guys will get a great deal and love your ride.
