What you should know is that you really shouldn't drive on freeway for that long under 3k miles.. Within first 3k miles, you engine's breaking in and you shouldn't put 500 miles coming from LA crusing at 70~80 mph (which is a little high for a new engine IMO) on I-5. New engines need breaking-in time and crusing on freeway on same speed for long time is NOT recommended by anyone or car manual.
I mean you could take time on that 500 mile trip, resting every 30 mins and varying your RPM between 2.5k~3.5k or so, but.... It's a lot of time/money to do that when you wanna get $500 deal.
Well, I'm just thinking you guys should stick with dealers in Northern Cali cause price can't differ thta much in same state within 500 mis... Just drive your new car safe and break-in well.
I'm really interested in buying a TSX, but I don't think I can afford a new car for now. Just keep it in Bay Area and deal well. It will return better result for all of you.
I was just saying cause I was concerned. I hope you guys will get a great deal and love your ride.
If this is a big concern, we could split into groups. Southern/Northern

I am thinking we should probably, go to dealers when pricing comes out, take a list of everyone who is buying, and what they want. Tell the dealer, that everyone will be giving a thousand dollar down for holding. Then have the dealer make individual contracts for a price on each vehicle. Put a clause that the contract is not valid till the buyer sends a 1000 downpayment. Then each individual can send their downpayment to the dealer via certified check. Most likely the dealer we choose to go with will not have all vehicle's we order on hand, so we will have to wait for them to come in. When each one comes in, then the respective owner can go pick it up.

Or we can shotgun it. on dec27, when the dealers are hurting for a sale, we could walk in and give them a sale of the lifetime.

what do you guy's think?

Sorry guys, I think I'm out. I need a car ASAP. I borrowing my buds car (he's using his motorcycle) until I got a good deal on the 04's. We'll, pretty much no more 04's in Cali that meets my criteria. He's needs the car by mid November (it's getting cold!)

I need to go in and order an 05 now so when the shippment comes in mid November, I'll have a car.

If anyone is interested, I'm going to e-mail dealers tomorrow. I live in Venice, CA and am contacting the nearest dealers.

Send me an e-mail if your interested...

Jeff

Invoice is Out

I'm really anxious to get my car ... since the pricing info has been released are we going to start contacting dealers? I am more than available to help (PM me if you need me to do anything specific). Do we have a ballpark range that we are going for ... I've been offered quotes for 1000 over invoice about 5 weeks ago(I am assuming that the MSRP/invoice numbers are going to be fairly similar between the two numbers) .... Hopefully we should be getting a better deal than that.

OK. The price of 2005 is out, now what?
Who is taking the charge in negotiating in No Cal?

Good, so the price is out. Two good things out of it:

1) $26990 means it's only $500 more than the 2004 model, not $800 more like some rumors said.
2) There is no surcharge for the automatic.

I think we need to get a list of people locations colors and options. Then get a couple people from norcal, and socal, and get some negotiations going.

Battle Plan
I'm sure not all of these members will come through and some may join once the price is announced. I think we can all do our part and contact our local Acura's. I'll try about 5-6 in North California. Let's...
- tell the dealerships that 15 are interested in purchasing and negotiate price from invoice.
- we will all put down a non-refundable $1000 deposit to prove that 15 are buying.
- all cars must be brand new (have less than 10 miles on them) and 2005 model.
- we assume and can wait for the arrival.
- must get it in writing what the price is.

When best price is found, let's get the final list of people that want in, hopefully the dealer will be responsible for collecting deposits from each one of us, we all pick up as soon as they are delivered, we are all happy and should have a BBQ or a photoshoot.

Did I miss anything?

We need a list of what people want. so we can present it to the dealers. If everyone emails me their info of what they want. Pandimus@gmail.com

first and last name
color
transmission
navi/non

I suppose if you want accesory's you can work them into the deal yourself after we get prices.

I don't think we need a list of SPECIFICS yet. They should be able to give us a price on a non-navi and navi depending on how many are buying. Once price is given to us. we will get a clean list of who's really in and we can then jump into what color/navi/interior. etc.

If you insist in knowing.. these are what people are "interested" in getting. Not a final choice.

After we contact 5-6 of the local Acura dealers and see who is willing to make a good deal ... it might be a good idea to send out a few groups of people to different dealerships to see who can make the best deal. I can imagine walking in on November 28th when the dealerships are empty and saying "Look ... I can deliver you 10 sales right now if you agree to this price" .

Oh yeah ... just to reconfirm I'm still in but I HAVE to have a car by the new-year. I need a CG TSX MT with navi

If it's not too late I'd like to be included in your No. Cal list. We are ready to buy asap and were just waiting for those '05's. SO here's my request;

Was that Bonnie the Los Gatos internet sales manager that gave you that quote? Did she quote you $1K above invoice on an 05? I think $1K above invoice is way better than $1K below MSRP, isn't it?

1K above invoice is slightly better than 1K below MSRP. Don't always believe what salespeople say over the phone though. They might just quote you a lower price to get you to walk into the dealership, then it might be a different story.

Hmm, if the price is REALLY good, I would consider getting it shipped to NY (I know shipping usually costs about $750 or so). When you get that price, let us know!

Yes it was Bonnie who quoted me $800 below MSRP. But she said, all the cars she has are already spoken for.
I offered her $1200 below MSRP, and she said cant do. But this was when there were no MSRP info yet. We are supposed to touch base in a week or so.

One question... Does the invoice include destination charges or not?? If its a group buy, as much as 15 of us doing the trade, can we expect invoice price?? Or is that unrealistic??

Guys, this weekend.. I will be making MANY phone calls and emails. I'll report how it goes.

Pandimus : we can't get a clear list of who's actually in UNTIL we have a price.

So far two have bailed, but two has joined. I'd say tell the dealer 10~15 depending on the price they can provide would be the safe way to go.

Exactly ... as long as the car is somewhere in the area that you want to buy it in they can sell you the car. Considering how few TSXes they are I dont think that there will be ANY shop that just 'happens' to have 15 cars in the exact configuration that we want. The important thing is to get them to agree to a price ...

I am very interested; I've already put down a deposit with Premiere Acura in Santa Rosa, but it would be really helpful to have a group buy price for negotiation purposes.
My heart's desire: PWP/AT/Non-Navi
