feeler: TL Swithblade key for TSX and others
Hi all,
I may have access to getting some milled TL switchblade keys that work with our TSXs. (not sure what other cars it will work on, but I know there's a few).
If there is enough people who want them, it will be about 2 weeks till I receive them.
As far as pricing, it is not yet 100 percent but most likely about --- bucks for each key shipped to your door. (cant post price until mod approves, but it will be just alittle more that the key's cost from a dealer, which is 88 bucks, at least from acura of springfield, nj)
Of course, the key will be 100% OEM acura and all you will have to do is get it cut and programmed.
What do you guys think?

Ditto on interested if the price is right. My first key got cut incorrectly by someone at a hardware store. Just an FYI to folks, take the key out of the assembly when you go to get it cut.

I'm interested. I had one made back in FLBusa's heyday, and I absolutely love it. But I'm terrified that I will someday lose it or break it and I'll be stuck using the crappy original one again. So I'm def. interested in a getting either a backup for my current Mem1 fob, or a new Mem2 fob. Will you be doing both Mem1 and Mem2?

The chip is built into the key itself. So, yes you need to take the key to a locksmith to be cut and programmed.
Programming can cost anywhere between free (yes, some people have had success with the dealers to program is for free) up to 90 (dealer).
Usually a local locksmith with the right tool to program a type V chip will do it for 40-50 bucks.

I'm not sure which other models work with 07 key. I'm assuming you know for sure that the 04 works?

My suggestion, for least trouble, is get the chip programmed by a competent Dealer or Locksmith who has the ability to program with a HDS. If you want to save some money, you can get the ECU chip from your current keys and swap it in, but it takes a little bit of work. Programming the buttons on the keys is quite simple and well documented here.

Switchblade TSX key
These are currently available here:
MOD EDIT: Sorry, we're not going to help him advertise since he is no longer a paying vendor.
He also had memory 2 for a while; they were a few bucks more. My locksmith in Florence, KY (9 miles south of Cincinnati, OH) cut the key and programmed the chip with standard tools. No disassembly required.
My post in this thread has a reference for the machine that codes the chip.

The key needs to be milled because our keys use an old style key cutter the new tl keys and audi keys use a laser cut. So we need it premilled to fit into a machine to cut our key becasue the key slate is already too big.

I would be interested as well, I wanted to buy for the longest time but time I got around to actually doing it the guy was no longer selling :-/
Moda_way - I have a chip from doing my integrated accord key that I could pull out and put in the new TL-S key but I thought it was pain to open? Am i wrong? I seem to remember you had to cut it, glue it, and repaint...
