EU Accord and the TSX

Let me start first by saying that if this has been covered before, please forgive me as I am new here.

Why, if the TSX is based on the euro accord, would Honda remove standard equipment and make them either not available or dealer extras for the U.S. Acura? I found the honda website for europe and checked the standard equipment for the accord 2.4 liter executive. This is some of what I found:

Fog lights - standard
Wheel locks - standard
heated mirrors - standard
digital (RDS) stereo - standard
rain sensing wipers - standard
headlight washers - standard

Just irks me a little, that's all.

Thoughts anyone?

so they can drop the cost and increase the profit, make mo $$$. you mentioned about the RDS, our TSX doesnt have a digital stereo? I think the TSX stereo sounds pretty good already though, that's probably the only significant addition to the tsx.

The stereo does sound pretty good. RDS is what allows the stations send out their call sign, current song, etc to be displayed on your receiver. This is pretty standard on near-luxury and luxury cars today.

I don't think the sound system sounds "good". It's alright though.

Funny how the europeans are willing to pay nearly $40k for a Honda Accord while people in America bitch whine and moan that they have to pay $25k.

Funny how the new Volvo S40 has this feature, at least the T5 version. Excluding the Navigation option, the price difference between that and the TSX is not that significant (IMO).

Does the euro accord come standard with heated leather seats? no
But after going through a NY winter I could use those heated mirrors... I think I will look into that.

You know I got my Cadillac CTS in the beginning of 2002 and it had it and only one or two stations had it, when i sold in in March about 50% of the stations in the chicagoland area had at least the station idedntification part working, one station 103.5 has it where they also send the artist and song title.

So it is growing in use especially since every new GM car has it with its stock radio these days..
