Drive by Wire

Hey,

I've searched some other threads and haven't been satisfied on the responses.....

Does the TSX drive by wire combined with the 5AT actually learn the habits of the driver? I know that for some VW autos that if you go WOT then the tranny will tend to always delay shifts for better acceleration (in other words the tranny has incorporated the driver's habits). I also once saw an '05 TL commerical in Canada that stated that the car actually learns the driver's style and adjusts accordingly.

Maybe its just my paranoia or something but given my constant babying of the rpms while in 'D', it appears the car is upshifting at lower speeds than when I first got it.

Any comments?

Have you tried sportshift? I always use the sportshift mode now. Then you can stop worrying about the tranny trying to second guess you =)

On a side note I wish the 5AT always displayed what gear it was in, not just when it's in sportshift mode.

Yea, the SS obviously allows me full control (X the clutch!). Actually I don't mind the early upshifts, I'm just wondering if this thing has some forms of intelligence.

Yes, the TSX will learn your shifting patterns. You can do an experiment by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and plugging it back in. Then get back in the TSX and drive it. You will notice that it will shift gears differently until it learns the way that you drive.
