Do I Have to Press The "Info" Button?????

I recently got my 200 TSX and one of the things that gets on my nerves is when I get in the car, start it, and put my seatbelt on the "Inst. MPG" and "Ave MPG" will not come on until I press the "Info" button.

I have set my car to show "Inst. MPG" and "Ave MPG" when I (driver 1) get in the car but it doesn't just come on....the display where this info is supposed to show up is black until I press the info button.

Is there any way to avoid pressing this button every time I get in the car???? I want the "Inst. MPG" and "Ave MPG" to show up without having to press the Info button.

Thanks!

But although it may seem like you want to be able look at that all the time while you're driving, after a while you will get sick of it and want it off. I stopped turning it on after about the 2nd week.

If you start the car with the door open, close the door and it puts it up there. It only comes on automatically if something triggers it. Riding without a seat belt does the same thing.

Wow, so it turns out I'm not crazy

I could swear a few times I've had it come on automatically but normally (and I had always read on here) that it never did, so I just thought I was imagining things and just forgot I hit the info button. I guess not.

Yeah, I had the same concern. The display was blank until I opened the door a second time after starting the car. Then it would display. I actually thought there was something wrong with the car, so I brought it back to the dealer on to find out that that was normal.

I think the default should be gettting the display once the car starts. Then if you don't want to see it, hit the "i" button. Or at least there should be an option to set the display to work however you want it.

In Canadian versions, you get a reminder that your DRL's are off when you have the parking brake set. This, as Knox mentioned, will provide a trigger for the MID. So I usually just wait for the DRL message to show up before releasing the brake and leaving.

To have the MID turn on automatically, I believe you have to put your seatbelt on before you start the car.

However, I find this annoying, especially in the morning since I'm ususally late for work and need to get going quickly, so I just deal with hitting the "Info" button everytime...

I'm not sure that's a trigger Dayta, but its worth a try.

Meh, I hit the button every time...6 months later I still like to glance down at my "mileage to empty" and "instant fuel economy" I have it set for.

I do this all the time, and it's not a trigger. First thing I always do is put my seatbelt on...you never know when a drunk driver's going to hit a parked car ;-)

If you leave your seatbelt off, the car will warn you about the seatbelt thing after 30 seconds or so I believe. That should be a trigger.

I used my MID for the first few weeks as I was getting re-adjusted to driving a MT. I was using it to see how to best conserve fuel. Now I only use it for elapsed time to measure my commute, or range when my low fuel indicator has turned on
