is the illumination better with the LED reverse lights or does it just look better with them in because the white color is better

Which ones should I use for just the doors? I want the blue leds for those?

Would that be the T13-B6 from the reference below?

I found the illumination to be better on the ones I did because I turned a 2-stage LED matrix into a single stage... like a break bulb that is always on.

Overall, the LEDs are technically less powerful/strong than the bulbs, but I wanted the more deep red color and white for the reverse lights. The only ones I've now kept bulbs in are on the licence plate. For some reason those 194 6LEDs always failed. The subtle bumps in the road evidently played a lot of havic on them.

I still have my LEDS in, almost a year now. The only big improvement is the reverse LED light. I changed the break lights and they definately look different then the stock and stands out compared to other TSX's, but its your call if the difference is woth your changing them. I wish they were a little deeper red. They seemed like they were before, but now the lights aren't all that deep.

The vanity mirror ones aren't available in any LED size because they are too small, however you could mod'd up a set using some single LEDs. I was going to do this, but ran a test and saw that the light filter on the vanity mirror would pretty much kill any light from a single LED.

Bleh.
You found the tail/brake lights to be too dim? My LEDs are perceptibly brighter than the incandescents they replaced were. Not only that but they are a much deeper red color, unlike the filtered orange-ish hue of the incandescents.

To each his own, I'm just surprised you found them too dim. The matrix bulbs are hella bright to me.

Yeah, I don't think the 15 LED Matrix's are bright enough either. Had them for my backup lights for a while.

Long story, but some weekend a couple months ago, ended up on a long narrow one-lane dirt road in Maine; road came to a massive lake-size puddle, couldn't go around or through (or turn around), had to drive in reverse for about a half-mile, couldn't see shit. My friend had to hang out the window and direct.

Though it does look pretty cool, I'm gonna stick with the incandescents for the exterior lighting.

So has anyone done a LED conversion on their tails that are NOT just bulb replacements. I have tried two different companies of 7443 LED bulbs and all have been to dim for daylight driving.

I have been contiplating diassembling my tails and retrofittin them with multiple single LEDs glued into the housing. But has anyone else done this mod I'm curious. If not I just might be the first......

LED drop in bulbs suck. i think those round truck LED replacements would look much better inside the tsx tails. but then you'd have to open up your lights.

link doesnt work....

What is the point of having LED rear lights?
the original brake lights and reverse and signal all works fine and have been for the longest time. is making them brighter going to make it safer to drive at night because people will notice you!?

Sorry if thats a dumb question, i know nothing about this topic and would like to.

LED's light up fast than regular bulbs, which would mean the person behind you can react that much quicker

Has anyone taken apart a 2006 RSX Type S rear tail light? It's supposed to be LED, and it's got round lights like the TSX.... I wonder how that thing is built (if it's a single LED bulb or if it's multiple bulbs like in the TL?

Just a thought....

The most "LED" it would be is just a bulb with LED cluster on it. Definitely not an LED setup like the new Accord.

P.S. The website doesn't specifically point out that it's LED Tail lights, so it might even be just a regular bulb.

How difficult is it to replace the bulbs above the license plate? Do you go at it from the inside or the outside?

Thanks

the main advantage i think of LED tails is well. it looks cooler.

most people can't react fast enough to it lighting up more quickly. it is a bit brighter too on some cars i suppose.

Inside. Take the carpet off the trunk lid and you pull out... for lack of a better term, a connector with the bulb in it.

Any one have any pics of their LED bulbs in brake lights? I'm curious as to how everyones set up looks. I have tried a few and either they weren't visible in the day or all I got was a red dot right in the middle of the brake lens since the light only shines in one direction.

Any other pics would be helpful.

Here is my car, which used to be on that link in this thread. Left side is all LEDs and right side is standard bulbs (including the license plate light). The only light that aren't LEDs on my car are the turn signals b/c you need a resistor with that to make them work.

the problem with it is though is they do not aim backwards at the reflectors in the housing and thus provide as much lights. I still want to find some xenon white bulbs that dont melt the rear housing.

They actually do make a set now that does focus more light into the reflectors. I have the type that do not.

what LEDs did you use, moda?
which are the deep/bright red?

what about the spoiler brake light, you plan on doing that? i think an led would look good there too.

i want to do all the lights including the turn signal.. wonder if i can find a shop with experience with modding a car for LEDs.

Sorry if you meant something else (like changing the colour of the spoiler's brake light), but the spoiler already has LED lights in it.

The centre "high mounted" brake light in the rear glass is traditional bulbs, though.

thanks for the pics moda_way. looks like the same result i had with mine. I also treid the ones that shine sideways around the edge of the bulb, but to no avail they just don't do the same job as filament bulbs.

BTW, have you ever looked at your LED's during daylight time? Are yours still visible enough, cuz i know mine weren't from even about 100ft. away

Oh well guess I'll be working on that LED tail light retrofit

I believe the spoiler is already LEDs, so I do not plan on doing those.

All of mine came from superbrightleds.com and the only thing I did was modify the reverse light. At that time I had to buy a 2 stage and modify it to be single stage, so it is extra bright white. The rest are the standard replacements. In the trunk, that bulb was a 168/194 and I solidered 2 of them together so that the trunk was illuminated to my liking.

As I recall, I have the same effect in the daytime. It hasn't been an issue to date as the spoiler leds are bright enough in stock format.
