Red face

Newbie here. I searched on Yahoo! for TSX buying discussions & I'm thankful I came across this one. Great thread.

I want to purchase 2006 TSX 6M non Navi

Acura is offering 4.8% financing for 60 months But because my family already owns an Integra we qualify for "Preferred customer" rates.

So, for 60 months I can get 3.8% financing (if the rates go up in April 4.8% will be likely)

What rates did any of you get and were they negotiable?

Off the Acura website (cough) I got:

Freight & PDI: + $1,430.00
Vehicle Price $37,330.00
Federal Air Conditioner Tax: + $100.00
Fuel Conservation Tax: + $75.00
Lien Registration Fee: + $52.00

My question to those of you who listed what you paid:

Did the prices you listed include Freight, Air, Fuel and Reg. ??

Are there any other hidden costs I am not accounting for?

Did anyone who got a good price get a line like "We're not throwing in the floor mats, etc."

Would any of you TSX buyers have any different tips for me from what you can usually read on car buying websites?

A lot of questions, I know... But this is my first new car purchase and I want to get it right.

I guess one good thing I have going for me is that, although I do love the TSX, if the dealership & I can't reach a deal I like- I won't hesitate to walk because there are some great cars in this $$ range!

Thanks so much.

The price I listed included everything except PST/GST. I paid cash so can't comment on the lease rates. Good luck!

I got 6.9% only to have it drop to 4.8 2 months later. Bought way back in december though...

I used a secured line of credit. It has much cheaper rates than your usual car loan.

Yes

Don't think so

Did anyone who got a good price get a line like "We're not throwing in the floor mats, etc."

I wasn't one of them that got a fantastic price, they did throw several things in for me.

Guys,
Let me know what you think of this deal:

2006 TSX black/black Auto Navi 3,500km for $36,500.

Good deal?

If you feel that the TSX has not been badly mistreated for the first 3,500 km then I think that it is a great deal.

You are getting about $3000 off the standard price.

Is black the colour that you wanted? It can look fantastic, but will be a lot of work and be ready for the swirls.

Good price though. (Is it a dealer's demo?)

excited, black is not the colour of choice, however it's an acceptable colour.
It's not a dealer's demo, it's a car a guy bought and owned and then realized he needed a bigger car, so he traded it in for a TL.
The sale is through an Acura dealer.

Quite likely he took care of it then.

You might be in a position to offer him a little lower price. I'm not a great wheeler dealer. You might be able to get a few more hundred off, or get them to throw in a few more things.

As is, it is still a good price.

BTW - what is your favourite colour?

no disrespect to you and your amazing car. but pearl white is the colour of choice.

...their original price was 37,900. i put an offer for 35500-36000, they said 36,900.
But told us to make a counter offer, that's why i said 36,500 i know they will take it.

PWP is an amazing colour as well. I always think that the TSX's that I see on the road that are white look pretty terrific.

A white car and a black car are at the opposite ends of the spectrum in appearance and care.

When you are spending $35,000+ be sure to get what you want. You know best how much you want white over any other colours. If black is a close second than no big deal.

It is a good price.

I was looking for this thread about 3-4 weeks ago while I was in the process of buying a TSX. I'm proud to say that I picked it up about 2 weeks ago.

It's an NBP 6MT non-NAVI for $40,100 OTD

Before taxes, that's $34,085 (only accessories were the 2 rear mud guards with the 2 free front ones of course, and wheel locks). $34,085 includes the freight, gas tax, etc etc. I guess you can really say that it came to $40,850 OTD because I was able to get in the $750 grad discount before it expired at the end of March.

But for invoice sake I paid $40,100 total.

Sorry, miscalculation - before tax price comes roughly to about 34870 for the 40,100 OTD price.

Hehe, excited with this newfound 'street' vocab.

And I'd be surprised if that Grad program actually expired. Honda/Acura has had that in constant rotation for many years. A new, identical program replaces it as the old one expires. Well, identical except for new expiration and possibly an updated vehicle list.

I love it. I'm still working on breaking it in - I'm at about 750km now and it's killing me to not be able to go on the highway or go faster than 80-85km. I can't give a statement on the power yet(or lack thereof as some have mentioned) until I take it on the highway but from my impressions so far it seems to be enough for me - even when I was driving 2-3 people. Very smooth transmission - definitely one of the smoothest shift sticks I've ever driven. I absolutely love the bluetooth integration - impresses all my friends that the car talks back to you not to mention you can say the entire telephone number you wish to call and it'll dial it for you - great voice recognition system.

I'm glad that your loving it.

I took mine on the highway during the breakin period. I think that the keys are not running at a constant rpm for an extended time and not reving it too high.

I chose the AT, but did test drive the MT a number of times and it is very sweet.

Bluetooth

Here's a thought

You can import a TSX into Canada from the United States right ?

Here's a thought. On the news I heard the prediction that the Canadian dollar could be in parity with the US dollar within 18 months(its already near 90 cents US).
If that happens, you could import an auto TSX with navi for $30k instead of paying $40k locally(plus whatever importation charges).

I guess that means you would have to drive back to the US for warranty work ?

We have talked about it many times and though you miiiiight and i really stress the word "might" save a buck it is a. insignificant amount and b. it's too much of a headache.

Warranty issues, getting it inspected and adding running day time lights, paying the duty on imported cars are also expensive, your traveling expense to the states to buy the car, etc...
It's not worth it.

i must add, this is my 499'th post and still no TSX. i will try not to post anymore and make my 500'th post a "I GOT A TSX!!!!!!" thread!

I recently did the math for a 6M w/navi, using the averages in the two "what did you pay" threads, and came to the conclusion that the savings would be between $5-6000 CAD. This will be reduced by local taxes when purchasing and you will still have to pay PST & GST on importing into Canada, as well as the costs for adding daytime running lights, etc.

I was in a very good position to import as my son is returning to Canada after 6 years in the USA. He is allowed to purchase a new vehicle at any time prior to returning (after 5 years) and import it without taxes as long as it is registered in his name for 1 year before transferring title. If I did not have the option of a business write-off I may have followed up on this, but knowing my son, he probably wouldn't let me drive it for that year.

Are you serious???

$35,000 for a base auto?... That's $750.00 below wholesale!

How did you manage to get that offer?

I know, right now, they have a ton of stock on the lot but that seems too good to be true.

Talking

TSX purchased & today it was picked up!

Manual without Navi.
$35029 (Freight / PDI included)
1.8% lease rate

Was advised not to buy by my financial planner. Basically the just was this: The extra money per month that would go to buying is better suited in my investments as they're getting such better returns... Anything is a better return than plunking down 40k into a depreciating asset... So that is how I went.

LOVE THE CAR.

Oh, I should add that I used www.carcostcanada.com - the wholesale for my TSX was $34558... So I was very happy about price.

To the shock of many here I was actually cross-shopping it with a Lincoln Zephyr! BUT- before you hiss, listen:

I know it's a very different vehicle HOWEVER both salesmen were trained to know their car would be competing with one another. Also, I wasn't buying therefore no quality worries, the car is quite attactive and the interior feels so much richer than Japanese vehicles in this segment... Ford was offering great incentives and Lincolns come with FREE scheduled maintanence for 4 years (that stuff adds up)!

I was a HAIR away from getting one with HID headlights, THX sound system, A/C seats and moonroof but they wouldn't get to the price I wanted.

They tried to make me a deal on a base model but BASE Zephyr vs. Base TSX = not a chance.

They THEN tried to sell me on a base Demo model with Chrome wheels (looked really nice on the black Zephyr) but they were still asking for too much for what it was VERSUS a brand new TSX.

If anyone is going to be buying a TSX and wanted to ask me something- please feel free.

I think this is a great forum to find out info!! Very very very helpful!!!
