Auto backlight nav screen question
Auto backlight nav screen question
So how do you get the nav screen not to switch to night mode if you turn the park or headlights on?
I seem to remember reading that the nav won't switch to night mode if it is not dark outside. Problem is, it can be bright daylight or late afternoon, and when I switch on the lights, the nav goes unreadable with sunglasses on.
The '07 with DRLs is really a nice feature to have. My old car had it, and it was a really nice feature.

Your Nav should have a Settings option (Menu button beside Map button) - page 1 of 3 - you can choose Day, Night, Auto.
On Auto, it works in conjunction with your headlight switch.
The other two are fixed states irrespective of the switch position.

It has to do with the dimmer switch. I couldn't get my car into night mode without dimming the dash one click..
Setup does nothing but change the levels after you have it turned on.

The question I had was that when I do this, the navi will go to night mode when the driving lights are switched on even if it is daylight outside. Guess its one more quirk that Acura didn't plan properly for.

This thread IS about the screen brightness, right?

I've had my 06 TSX for just over 4 months and have just less than 4000 miles on it. I've always wanted to find out about this myself. I have it set at AUTO and it never ever switches to night mode. If I'm driving at night and I find it too bright, I manually turn it to night mode. I've tried the dimmer settings too, but the AUTO setting on the navi never works.

1. Go into settings and set it to DAY mode. Then when you turn on your headlights, it won't go to night mode.
2. To rambalu80: If it doesn't switch, make sure your color scheme is beige or white for day mode, and blue or black for night mode. You can change color scheme in the Settings-More section.

I had this same problem. When I turn on the lights because it is dusk, or raining, the Nav screen was too dark. The default color scheme for night time is a dark blue background with blue roads etc. This is pretty dumb since the planned route is also in blue. Anyway, I changed the night time color scheme to match the daytime scheme, then set the contrast/brightness so that it is darker than day time. Now the screen dims with the lights on, is readable, but not too bright at night. It seems to remember day and night brightness/contrast settings.

I have my night mode set to have a black background...that way, I don't have to make it dim as much, and it won't be too bright for someone in the car
