Adieu

I came to this forum before I bought my 2006 RBP 6MT (Tan interior). And now, I am a few weeks from no longer owning a TSX. 140k miles later, 2 rear ends from texting drivers. (UGH) and I'm looking to trade her in.

Replaced by a 2016 Honda Pilot EX with Sensing. The tech is pretty darn cool.

I could have put another 10 years on the TSX and been happy. A child is on the way, and the new SUVs just have amazing crash ratings that the wife and I couldn't ignore.

I will really miss rowing the gears myself. I wish orlando had some turns and hills so I could have enjoyed it more, but it climbed the mountains of GA and SW Tennessee a few times to enjoy it.

I only replaced the brakes with Stop Tech, the A/C Fan and COmpressor, and the clutch. Everything else is original. I did a few small mods (gear shifter and LED internal lights), but overall she's a stock buggy.

I will miss this TSX a lot. She got me through my twenties in one piece, all while having fun along the way.

Great car.

Sounds like the car served you well during that time of your life. I have read that the new Pilot is awesome. Post up some impressions once you have had it for a while.

Like many of us, you've decided it's time to move on. This forum is a shadow of what it was for the 5 years or so when I was more active here, and that is I'm sure why it's so less populated (by adults anyway). Good luck with the new family.

Congrats on the new vehicle and new family!

I sometimes think Honda doesn't realize Acura is a part of the same company? You pretty much get everything from a 16 MDX tech+Acura watch (tech, reliability, safety, space) at RDX prices. You still come out ahead getting a new 16 pilot compared to a used 14-15 MDX tech/adv model.

I was lucky to keep my 06 TSX long enough to hand it down to my son in 2013 when he turned 16. You just need to figure out what car to purchase down the road to pass down to the kid when the time comes.

Disappointed

Thanks for the kind words. I test drove the 16 pilot and was incredibly disappointed. It didn't feel like a $35k car. Actually felt like my wife's Honda Fit, finish wise.

The pilot was top heavy, handled and steered vaguely and the seats in front were not comfortable. The armrests were too skinny and it was kind of like airplane seats in that regard.

I've driven an mdx. This is no mdx.

my wife is not picky about cars like me (she drives a fit! Which is a great car...)
But even she was complaining about the noise, ride and comfort.

Felt like the tech was overcompensating for the crappy ride. Maybe future model years will be improved.

Anyone here use their tsx for parenting duties?? Maybe I can save more for an mdx while I keep my tsx!

Pitt

take a step back...
let's think this through...

you will fucking miss the 6MT very very much, no two ways about it. A lot of new cars are very vanilla in comparison to what you're used to. I say take the tax money you were about to choke on, and put it toward getting your car in perfect shape instead. In the end, you'll be much happier.

I was in the same situation a few years back...test drove A3 TDI, Mustang 5.0, TL SHAWD and a few others...every time, I'd get back in my 2004 TL and be like, uhhh...well that certainly didn't inspire me to spend 35K and I LOVE YOU BABY I'm SORRY FOR EVEN SIGNING UP FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE EQUIVALENT OF ASHLEY MADISON!

Anyway...I'm a new Dad and I have an S2000 for my fun car...spoiled bitch! Not my kid, me
My 2004 TL has little annoyances I have to tend to...paint ain't perfect, power steering leak...but it gives me something to do and best of all, I have NO $550/month car payment for a car that has no soul.

Just my opinion...my daughter can't wait to ride in it and hear the 2 12's...

I've always been sedans/2-dr hatchback during my carseat time as a parent. This was back in the day when all you needed was an umbrella stroller, small car seat, and a small diaper bag for a day outing. Everything nowadays is so huge for hauling babies/kids around. The TSX was fine for me with just one to haul around. Any plans for more than that and you might be better off with the RDX (or CR-V) or MDX (or Pilot). I also transitioned to a SUV because I got back into hiking and biking. Then the kid got into summer track and we usually combined our vacations with out of state summer track meets. It was cheaper to drive and haul our gear ourselves compared to fly/renting a vehicle.

Since you are looking in the under $40,000 price range. I would check out:
- 12-13 MDX tech
- 13-15 RDX tech
- 16 RDX tech with/without Acura watch
- 14-15 MDX tech or Adv

The good thing about Acura is the 4/50,000 & 6/70,000 for warranties. And you already know Acura makes the best used vehicles and have the driving dynamics you already like. Here is a 15 MDX sh-awd Adv with 4500 miles for $38,800:
Cars for Sale: 2015 Acura MDX SH-AWD w/ Advance Package in LINDON, UT 84042: Sport Utility Details - 409909740 - Autotrader

This used 15 MDX sh-awd Adv would kick the $hit out of any 16 Pilot dollar for dollar.

Absolutely, man...
and CONGRATS!
I thought you meant theoretically, not that you actually have a baby now!

Isn't it a relief to decide to love and keep her?!?!
I always love my TL more than ever when I decide I'll keep it forever!

Glad to hear! While you are at it, maybe you should have the LCA bushing replaced (if you haven't already) to get some of that old steering feel back too.
