Of course they were wondering about me anyway.
You're not alone. I think Hondas and Acuras are superb cars.

They offer me no reason to ponder other vehicles with high mark-up marketing fluff.

It makes you wonder why the higher prices that other vaunted brand labels fetch do not mean better quality, more reliable, less "glitchy", more efficient, etc. It's the grope for the pecking order, that the paranoid worry about being seen for sake of being seen, and the false sense that money buys class.

good post brad.
I can honestly say I would never drive a BMW, I don't need to. Cars are little boxes we climb into to transport ourselves and others from one place to another. In that regard, an Acura is much better than a BMW, Audi, even a Ferrari. However in other regards each has it's supremecy.
Let a person whose use for a car is to bolster their image buy a bmw.
Someone who wants a thrill should go for the Ferrari.
We all have individual needs, and when we buy a car our task is to find the car that best fits those. It is not accurate when one person, or magazine, says one car is better than another. For some people I know an 85 honda civic is better for them than a new TL. As for me, the TSX is absolutely perfect.

The TL is a great luxury/sport compromise. But no where near 50k cars league.
I have to agree with you about the current TL. The new TL, we don't know yet.

I don't know how accurate this is, but my dealer told me that the new TL will be $34K without navigation and $36K with nav.

How about Honda buy out the License of the Hummer with the V8 and make a Honda/Hummer Car.. Now that would be the tightest SUV in the world.

= Hello, I live in Kansas.

To me and a lot of other Detroiters, cars are second to oxygen. We go to sleep at night as kids lulled by engine noises and screechng tires, we get driven to school in a '68 Nova in junior high and then drive ourselves to high school in a '88 Cultlass, we don't smoke cigarettes we leave the car running in the garage for a little while and then go in for a quick inhale, when Ford/GM/Chysler lays off a few thousand more we all add another dead-bolt on to our locks, the NAIAS is the premier event of the year and watching a 6 year-old "drive" the latest Ferrari isn't a pipe-dream but a reality, seeing a 2005 Chevy truck, a Model T, and a Daewoo Lanos all stopped behind each other at a red light is a normal sight, you walk into a dealership and are asked "what plan do you have?" because someone in your family DOES work for an auto maker, and finally, some guy who loves Acuras can drive his BMW down the street not for image and not for wealth, but because with a smile on my face I just know I can get to the next light before it turns red....

Hey Ice!

Yeah, I take off every now and then trying to find my sanity. I tried to keep up with Larch and Jason one day and had a breakdown. Hahahaha...

You've got the coupe, right? Well, you're excused. I like the coupe too. Not as much as the TSX though!

That is an opinion. Doesn't make it a better car than the G35 and whatever other car you talked about.

To tell the truth the g35 coupe owns both the accord and the tsx except the back seats blow on that car.

so the new tl will be much better than the old tl, but for $5,000 more? current tl owners might not want to upgrade for that price. bad move on acura's part. i'd expect tsx sales to go even higher if that price is true

Yea traffic in LA is HELL. I would never get a stick for that reason. Planning on an auto for the tsx as well, or any other car for that matter.

The TSX back seats are better (more leg room, more head room) than BMW 3 series, A4, IS300, G35 coupe, and Altima. This is a big deal to me - my 6 foot sons can ride comfortably in the back seat of my car.

Rrrrright...so anyway...

BTW--the seats in the back of the Mercedes-Benz S-class are very nice, too. There's plenty of legroom, too--that's a plus

Wow - wrong on so many counts I hardly know where to begin. How about I just give you the numbers - rear headroom followed by rear leg room, in inches. Source: MSN autos. Figures where the TSX trails its competitors are in bold.

TSX - 37.3, 34.2

A4 - 37.2, 34.3
Altima - 37.6, 36.4 (you had to be kidding with this one, right?)
325i - 37.5, 34.4
IS 300 - 37.7 , 30.2

and for fun:

Honda Civic Sedan - 37.2, 36

Cheers,

Jaeger

I'll tell you what. Go to www.honda.de
Click on "Die Limousinen" in the Modelle option frame on your left, and then Accord 4-türer. Click on "Zubehör" and then "Außen".
I don't know if those parts will ever be available in Amerika, but if you know someone in Germany...

That's absolutely correct. Some people have better things to do with their money than sink it in an expensive premium-priced motor vehicle. I would readily consider an Acura over a BMW.
That is nuts. You get what you pay for bub. BMWs are SOLID cars from the doors to the trunks. Yes, I agree, over-priced many times but folks are willing to pay more (obviously) for attention to details.

....but not willing to pay more to get less. I would have been thrilled to pay more to get more, but I was not willing to pay either more or less to get subpar reliability and subpar traction on snow and rain.

And you shouldn't either! :flamer: j/k
