Accord Tourer concept = the next TSX?
If the next TSX is once again the Euro Accord sedan, then this new concept of the Accord Tourer that was just unveiled is probably what the next TSX will look like, except with a trunk:

I read somewhere, I think on a link from topix.net, that the next TSX isn't supposed to be based off the Accord, but this thing looks a lot like the photos we've seen, so I guess that article was wrong.

rza, good to know, thanks for crushing my dreams of ever being first at anything.
I'm convinced the next TSX will share that body style, because even though they're calling it a Honda, they've blatantly given it the Acura grill and made it look like it would fit beside the MDX on a car lot.
If this is it, it might take some time for that front end to grow on me. It's not as sloped as the current model, and it doesn't look as natural. It looks a bit like it got punched in the nose.
They probably won't offer this station wagon in the US obviously because they didn't last time, but they should, because BMW offers some high class station wagons and some of us don't consider an SUV or a girly-ass crossover as suitable stand-in.

The face is nice overall, a little too much chrome but I'd live with it. The nose does resemble the RDX.

Intersting -- I hope the execution is a little less edgy and they go with a more timely design. I still think the design of the current TSX is very nice even though it's almost 5+ years old!(accord in europe came out in as an 03 model in 02)
Regardless if the tsx has the right credentials(awd turbo and not too much of a size increase) I'll likely be coming back to the honda fold after my TT lease is up in 2010.

Too much of a Ford Fusion look to the grille and it looks like a Dodge Magnum from the side. I like the LED tail lights, clear wrap around headlights and front lower grille with fogs.
The TSX version will have to have a 3.0L/3.2L V-6 or 2.3T before I would consider trading in the 06.

No thanks on the wagon. I'm waiting to see if the Honda Stream would actually make it here.

This article says the new Accord Tourer has the same engine options as the previous model. That' doesn't sound promising to say the least. If the new TSX is the same car I have now with a slightly different shape I'll have to pass. I don't know where I'll go, but that's too much of the same for me. I don't think they should make the car something it's not, but if the USDM Accord gets a v6 I think the TSX is owed the same potential.

The all-new Accord range will boast one of the first all-Euro 5-compliant engine line-ups which will consist of two i-VTEC petrol engines of 2.0 and 2.4-litre capacities and a newly developed 2.2-litre i-DTEC next-generation diesel engine.Compared to the current Accord engine line-up, power output will be boosted and emissions and fuel economy significantly improved.

Slightly dissapointed by the lack of a larger displacement engine. However, this car looks great. Honda really needs to bring the wagon here. I'm thinking about replacing my TSX with a wagon due to home expansion, and the only options I see now are the German wagons.

This is the type of engine Honda/Acura needs to add to the Wagon:

V-12 TDI Diesel with 500hp and 738 lb/tq. Max torque available at 1,750 rpms! And you still get 20 mpg.

i think honda is running out of designs because that rearend does look about 100% like the RDX aside from the LED taillights.
once again though if this Accord tourer looks better than the new US Accord sedan.

Yeah, it looks better than the USDM Accord. I don't get the last generation Accord either. I must be out of touch with the average soccer mom and conformist dad because to me the USDM Accord looks like an excerise in radical geometry whereas the euro Accord looks as natural as one of God's creatures.
This thing is growing on me, even though it's a station wagon. I'm kind of hoping they sell it over here so I have the choice because I could use the space. The RDX... not for me.

I posted on the other thread, and I will post it here again - I think this is absolutely beautiful! Look at the clean and effective lines that flow so beautifully from the headlights to the rear end! I love the rear especially, because it's so unusual for a wagon and it's so sporty too! Almost like a hatch rather than a wagon.
Imagine if they sell this as a TSX, complete with a sedan and a coupe!!! That would be so absolutely wonderful.... but somehow I am not so optimistic about them selling this stunning wagon here.... but if they do, I would take this one in the exact same red color! Buh bye A4 wagon and 3 series wagon fantasies...

It looks a little too boy racer for me. Look at how classy the current and near future entry level luxury cars look: new 328 is nice ( admittingly too "bangley" for some), IS looks as aggresive a luxury model can, 09 A4 is timeless, new C300 is slightly on the conservative side but befitting of benz. This car cannot compete with any of those on luxury car looks, I see it competing more with the lancer. Sure the Acura will have different emblems. I can see the rear end being identical to this model- and it does remind me of the rdx.
As for powertrain, I am very excited about A-VTEC. However, the most power I could see it having is 240 hp, and Id expect something like 220 hp and 180 ft lbs tourque with the same MPG as now. In 2011, i could see the Type S with turbo AWD.
Then again, what do I know.

Not interested. If I wanted an SUV/Crossover (or whatever you want to call it) I would go elsewhere. If I want an Acura I want a CAR.
Regarding bigger and more powerful engines, I think Acura (and any other company) would be smart not to spend money developing overpowered vehicles. My belief is that in a very short while, maybe within a couple of years, two things will happen: (1) there will be a big grassroots outcry to start making serious reductions in pollution, and(2)the government will get off its a$$ and mandate new CAFE standards. Neither of those situations will be compatible with continued development of bigger and more powerful engines.

If the last few Honda concepts are any indication, this is 90-95% of what the production car will look like. Not good IMO.

If they're willing to pop a V6 in an USDM Accord I'd think they could do the same with the Euro Accord. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask.
