3 looong months?

my dealer sent me this e-mail, what is he talking about????
Are you aware that it has already been three months since you purchased your vehicle? That means it’s time for your very first scheduled maintenance!

Exactly what it says in the e-mail, your first scheduled maintenance! Possible an oil change?
The e-mail is probably a service reminder from your friendly dealer.

I'd just look at the % oil left... actually, I have no idea what that % means exactly. Anyone know?

I usually look at % that falls below 30 or reaching 4000miles (whichever comes first), my internal alarms would notify my brain to call Acura for an appointment.

Basically they are unhappy unless you pay them every 3 months.

I called my dealer at 15K miles thinking I needed a typical 15K service - they told me the car will tell me when it needs service and there was no such thing as a 15K, 30K, 45K, etc. I guess I'd trust your car, or just go get the oil changed.

Your dealership will contact you from time to time regarding service deals. I also keep getting contacted by the new local honda dealer for some reason. I think the honda financial website (for those of us who got loans from honda) allows dealerships to contact users.

when the oil life gets to 15% it will show that service is due soon but will also give another code such as a-1 (oil change) When the oil life gets to 5% it will show service due now. After 0% it will start showing miles past due. Dealers will either e-mail or send reminders for service. Some dealers want you to follow the maintence reminder and others want you to do it the old way-3,750 mile oil changes, 10k, 20k service. I follow the maintenance reminder

yes, yes, i understand all this. my point was that they say its time for "scheduled maintenance", which would seem to be blatantly untrue

loulinjai has it right

also, these cars have normal oil, right, why are you going to the dealer for this? do you have free oil changes at the dealer or something?

I recently took my 06 tsx for an oil change and tire rotation and balance. The driver's side front tire had a very slow leak. The dealer found a nail in it so they plugged it. They also detailed the car. (nice job) Total cost including tax $26.45. I do not have the right tools to do my own maintenance.

sorry i should have been more clear: typically i would assume that any garage or jiffy lube would do an oil change cheaper than a dealer. I surprised by the $26 bill you mention above, but typically wouldn't it be cheaper to go elsewhere?

I bought my tsx new 11/17/06. It now has almost 39,000 miles. Besides the regular oil changes, and tire rotations the dealer replaced a headlight (some a-hole scratched it at a mall parking lot) both foglights (cracked) driver's side seat covering for free I doubt jiffy lube or a garage would do that. They are replacing the wiring for the heated seats next time I go for service.
