Wireless backup camera on non-nav unit?
Wireless backup camera on non-nav unit?
So i've been researching this for some time. I have an 05 Non-nav TSX and would like a backup camera (or at least a backup sensor). Either way, I was looking at some easy solutions and looked at the VR3 system some refer to (sold at costco, etc.) as well as the 4UCAM systems (http://www.4ucam.com/index.html).
Anyone have any luck with these actually working though...also, the 3.5 inch screen is pretty big and anyone mount it in a good location? I looked that the sunvisor or rearview mirror screens, but they look very cheap and the I dont want my car to look downgraded with crap.
any suggestions would be great. thanks

The integrated rearview mirror monitor/ backup camera looks like the best bet, although you won't be able to use the auto dim feature of the TSX if you have that mounted (from what the website at www.4ucam.com/index.html showed anyway. This way, I don't have to worry about dismounting when I park as I already have a GPS and Escort x50 8500 to dismount whenever I park!
I'd be interested in other's experiences too.

don't laugh, but i'm thinking of trying something like this. I have no idea what the product is like in terms of quality of monitor and camera but we'll see. The size of the monitor seems to be the perfect size and the price is easy enough to mess around with.

Backup camera monitor possibility
http://www.gooddeals18.com/product/S...d_monitor.html
I have had this bookmarked for a while as a possibility. Monitor is small enough and with a small sheet metal bracket "L" on the back of the rearview mirror you could mount it and then flip it up when not needed.

Just a word of advice, CMOS cameras are pretty awful in terms of image quality. CCD cameras provide an amazingly better picture. Unfortunately, they aren't usually offered in these screen/camera packages. Expect a ccd cam to run you at least $100 by itself. Check out the guide on ebay. I believe there is a backup camera buyers guide on there. It's a pretty good read.
