05 RSX Tidbit

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=236040

Can any of our dealer fellows (Justin) shed any light on this?

225HP would be my bet.

I'd expect performance enhancements to be things like larger wheels, stiffer ride, etc. Can't see the rsx having more than 200hp before the tsx.

Well its been out a lot longer, its probably need an upgrade as RSX sales are declining.

Honda wouldn't be dumb enough to give the RSX-S 225 HP. You don't have a car lineup where someone can pay $4000 less and get 25 more HP. I am willing to bet the 'Performance improvements' are things like gear ratios, LSD maybe, suspension, wheels, etc.

this is from vtec...225hp? how much HP is the Type-R integra?

This will be the first allocation for the ’05 RSX.
We are pleased to announce that the '05 RSX will receive styling and handling enhancements.
In addition, RSX Type S will receive performance enhancements. We anticipate the model mix to remain the same as the '04 model.

I think the Type R is 220. I initially said 225 because thats waht I thought it had.

I really don't think the TSX HP figures have anything to do with what the RSX-S HP figure should be, they are completely different cars that have completely different competition. The TSX does'nt compete against 200HP Saturns and Coblats and 230HP Neons. The RSX has to bring more to the table.

Spill the dame beans Kurt

The R has 220ps. So, yes, it is a little bit of a jump. As we all know, Type-R cars aren't there to brag about their extra HP.

cmf: One word: Wait.

The rest of you: We don't have a solid number (yet). Let's just say Honda isn't going to screw around with us on this car. Maybe they'll actually put a center console armrest in the thing.

I don't think they will increase the HP on the RSX-S but will for sure have more TQ. Perfect example, look at the S2K. It's from a 2.0L to a 2.2L. It revvs lower but now has more balls!!!
But I really hope they do something about it since the SE-R and SRT-4 guys are laughing at the RSX-S. Eventhough it looks the BEST out of the three...

I would have to disagree with you on that one. The HP will most likely go up, but he displacement will not. Honda (on the Acura lineup) is (1) not a fan of having 2 different engine sizes for one car anymore and (2) most likely going to open up the tuning on the engine a little bit. If I can tune a K20 to a WHP rating of 212 and W Torque of 154 with simple stuff, I know that the thing has much more potential. It will be here at the end of the summer. Hold your breath...or in the case of this place..."let the speculation begin." :P

You're right or could be wrong as well. No one will know until it comes out. But I really hope it will grow some balls to hang with the SE-R and SRT-4

It was like that with the RL (225HP) and TL-S (260HP) for a few years, so it's not impossible.

You would think that the HP can't go up too much, because then they should just label it a type r rather than an s, especially if they're gonna make a few minor exterior changes......

My guess is they're bring back the Type R to the US.
I remember seeing a blurb in C&D awhile back a possible Type R return.

It shouldn't come as a surprise then. Honda did the same thing with the Integra type-R, they waited until the year the model was on its last legs before a redesign to bring it over as the Acura ITR.

I just wonder if it'll still be called the type-R, since Acura is supposedly getting rid of the "type" labels and replacing them with A-spec packages.
