Reasonable timing belt replacement

I decided to replace the shingles and most fascia boards and 10 sheets of plywood on my roof.

My wife was up-in-arms about me doing this, mostly by myself, at my age (79).

During the "discussion" she mentioned that I haven't changed the timing belt on the Acura, and would like that done instead.
I bought the belt, water pump pulley and some o-rings several years ago, but haven't wanted to tackle the job.

OK, I finished the roof after 8 weeks and miraculously, no rain in sight.

I took the car to a mechanic I use in Mesa and he said he'd put the parts in for $250.
Why didn't I just do that in the first place?

Anyhow, he did have to buy the tensioner and some more gaskets which I expected.
When he was done, he wanted to replace the fluid in the brakes, power steering, and transmission.

I was in a hurry, so I just let him do the brakes. I did get away for around $419, but I saved 10 times that by doing the roof.

If you're in the Phoenix area, he is Luis at Honn Auto near Broadway and Stapely in Mesa.
