What kind of noises if any do you hear when trying to start it? Are there any lights on the dash? Have you been able to shift out of park prior to having problems with starting the car? In order to shift out of park, you will need to press the brake pedal. There is a brake switch that disengages the lock on the shifter.

put your key into that little slot, move the shifter to neutral. then try to start your car. it will probably start, if it doesnt either starter or battery i bet. battery - car will just be totally lifeless, no lights, etc. starter - everything will work but wont crank.

I'm having a similar problem, only mine DOES turn over. The ignition gets power, but as soon as the car starts to run on its own, the power to the ignition stops. I too, can't shift out of park. Also, when I turn the key on, I don't hear that usual electrical "whine" which I think is the fuel pump priming or something?
