Question Need to replace Ignition Control Module

I have to replace the ignition control module in 96 acura tl, I don't know where to buy that part, I can't find it on the internet, and I'm kind of lost.
Any help will be appreciated

i'm going to go to the junk yard, but is there somewhere better to get the part?

Junk yard is a good place to start but dealership is your last choice....

We have one Acura dealer sponcer here, they offer some good discount plus reasonable shipping, you might wanna browse the off topic section to find out.

EDIT: Try this link---> https://acurazine.com/forums/a-283/

Do you need a 2.5TL ignition/coil module? I just replaced mine w/ a used unit, and that was not the problem. My removed unit should be fine and you can have cheap, $20 + shipping cost. PM me if you want the unit.

good luck

Well the problem is that the car sparks but it is very weak, and it won't ignite, so we figured since there are 4 coils (i'm relaying what i've been told, so forgive me if I'm a little off), that instead of trying to replace each one we will start at the top of what makes the spark, and in a book I was looking at about ignition systems it shows that we need something called ICM, ignition control module
So I'm not sure if the part you have is what I would need, but I will find out

If you have a 3.2TL you need another part. If you have a 2.5TL, this part will work.

good luck

Do you know if a 3.2 TL ignition control module is interchangeable with a 2.5 TL ignition control module, and can you possibly send a picture of it to me.......thanks J

Why do you think you need a new "ignition control module"?

The 3.2TL has "coil-over-plug" (COP) ignition. A separate coil and ignition system is attached to each plug. There is no common coil, ignitor, distributor system. Ignition signals (low voltage) are sent from ECM to each COP to fire the plug.

If you're missing, you may need new plugs or possibly you have a single defective COP. Is there a Check Engine Light? If yes, you need to get the DTC (fault code) and post for help.

good luck

Mea Culpa.

There is an ignition control module for the 3.2TL. If you want a file on testing, PM your email and I'll forward. Sorry for the bum steer. If you have a DTC (Pnnnn), post and I'll try to help.

good luck

Well the reason I think I need to replace the ICM, is because the car won't ignite, it turns on, won't start, and my mechanic tested some things and said that it is a weak spark, so instead of going to start with replacing all of the coils we decided to replace that first and see if it either fixes the problem or narrows it down........someon said check the timing belt, any suggestions on this problem???? Thanks J

Manual implies there should be a check engine light set for this fault. It doesn't say which code goes w/ the fault(?), but looking at DTC's perhaps P1316, P1317, P1318, or P1319 may be the code (Spark Plug Voltage Detection Module). Do you have any codes set? If so what?

The diagnostic chart doesn't suggest Ignition Control Module as a "no-start" fault, however you would think it might be possible.

If you want some manual pages that may help, PM your email address and I'll forward them.

I would also check that ignition switch assy is actual providing voltage to igntion system. Faulty keyswitch could cause no-start, but you would have no-spark, not a weak spark.

good luck
