Ok so i am so screwed now, my car wont start again and the boston meet is tommorow!
This is what happen:
last week i tried to start the car and it doesn't start, transmission is locked and the brake light goes on the dash every time i try to start the car(third position)..after researching and digging around i find the fuse that says"brake and horn" ,i check it and its blown, i replace and the car starts up like a champ, tranny is unlocked and everything is fine...
today as i try to leave my girls house i get same problem, so i go to check the fuse and it isn't blown...i am like wtf??? same thing car wont start, brake light is on but the tranny isn't locked anymore...WTF??
So do you guys think i need NEW BRAKE SWITCH?
I am so pissed, now i cant even attend the meet tommorow, please help!!!

the problem is somehow there is no power goin to crank the starter,
when i turn the key the key something clicks once under the hood

i guess i could wire up an engine start button directly from battery to starter but really dont want do that..

I was wondering why you didn't show up today. That sucks that your car is acting like that because today when people saw my car they were like "those things still run and can look that good." Hopefully you can make it to the next meet and get this problem solved ASAP! Good luck!

There is a switch in the console that will activate the shifter. If you are real quiet, and push on the brake pedal when the key is on, you can hear it in the console. The switch also cuts the cruise control. Two part switch.

If you pull the cover off around the shifter, you can feel it.

How many miles on the car?

Mine was doing the same thing. Not starting. 129K miles. Needed a starter rebuild. I have a guy in town who rebuilds all of my starters and alternators.

Fixed it.

I haven't found the fix for the mysterious brake light issue.

Hope this helps.
