Dash Display Lights - D4, ABS, Check Engine etc.

Thanks to a buster odometer I just has to replace my dash display - and the dealer agreed to do it for free. Unfortunately, the check did not check all the bulbs on the used part I provided, so I am missing some crucial lights - like cruise control, TCS on/off, check engine (maybe).

I assume the problem is burned out bulbs, not an issue with the part itself. I've read the DIY on changing the D4 bulb, so I think I can do this. BUT, do I have to disconnect the battery to do it? My dealer service rep has me all jittery about shorting out the new part.

And is there anything else I need to know before I start this?

It's good practice to disconnect the battery, but not essential for this task, as long as keyswitch is OFF.

Strange for so many lights to be bad, even in a used instrument panel.

good luck

thanks for the tip.... as it turns out, there are far fewer lights out than i first thought.... just the tcs and the abs and the d4.... haven't gotten around to changing them out yet, but i will -- maybe this weekend. it has just been too hot.
