A/C Troubles..
Yesterday my air conditioning seemed to "die" for several minutes. The fan kept going at the same speed, but cold air suddenly turned to outside temperature air. Anyone else had this problem?
Also.. (cant seem to find it in the search) how does one get the self-diagnosis mode in the climate control?

Check whether AC compressor is disengaging when AC dies. If compressor is disengaging and cooling is fine when engaged, the likely reason is the compressor clutch gap is too large. A confirmation of this fault is to bump the clutch face w/ a hefty stick or wrench. If clutch closes and compressor starts running, the gap problem is confirmed.
This happens because the clutch magnetic field is too weak to pull the clutch closed w/ too large clutch gap. Fix is to remove the clutch plate, remove shim/s to reduce the clutch gap to ~20 +/- 6 mils. You may need to obtain some additional shims to get a combination that returns gap to spec limits.
Another possibility is evaporator is freezing solid. This is usually a result of too low refrigerant (R134a) charge. If you see white vapor coming from the vents and the air is humid, freezeup is likely. Fix is usually to recharge to specification limits. It can also be caused by improper setting of temperature cut level on the evaporator temp controller.
good luck

Here is the self diag sheet:

There are some other tests you can do also, component by component, but a bit more involved it looked like, let me know if you need anything specific.

Thanks for the responses guys. I got ABCDE at the same time..
So apparently it has to do with the ground wire? Should I take the two harnesses out of the climate control unit and plug them back in? I recently did some stereo work, perhaps I didnt push the harnesses in securely. Any help on this one?

Hard to understand how you got all codes at same time. Do you mean all items are ON?
A good place to start is to remove and clean the contacts of the AC control unit. Some small amperage signals may be seeing a high contact resistance and causing problems. A rubber eraser is good to polish contacts.
good luck

That may be the problem, if you didn't get the things pushed all the way back in, they are a bit of a pain IMO, and like Texas said, clean the contacts, and you should be all set

Well I figured it out. It was the right wiring harness, it wasnt snapped in properly.
That'll teach me to fiddle with my stereo's headunit and not pay attention...

Yeah, i was going to suggest something with the clutch not kicking in due to a bad connection. I had this problem 3 days ago on my accord - turns out that I didn't connect one of the AC fan harnesses properly when I replaced the radiator last winter.
As an aside: UnsanePyro, sorry to hear about your car, but you can't leave the forum. Great posts like your pic in this thread and what we need!
error climate control
Does anyone know what the code 88 means on the climate control unit on a 2000 tl ? My blower does not blow hot or cold , I tried this self diagnostic and got the code 88 .

I need to check to see if it only happens when i'm at a standstill.
I popped the hood, and the belt on the compressor looked a little smooth to me. Maybe the belt gave off the burning smell?
I started the car with the ac off and the wheel on the compressor was still.
Then I turned the ac on, and it started blowing cold.
I went to look at the belt and the wheel on the compressor was spinning, then stopped. I put my hand on the vent and the air was warm.
From this thread I'll try TexasHonda's suggestions, but does anyone think the belt might be too worn to turn the wheel on the condenser?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

2nd to last sentence should say conpressor, not condenser.
I can't get into the diagnostic mode.
I tried holding the buttons down, but the only thing that happens sometimes is that the AC turns on and off (when I hit one before the other by mistake)
How long do I have to hold it down?
I have a 97.
