ATC Problems

My Automatic Temperature Control is not working correctly. It should range from 60-90 degrees but as you turn it up from 60 it goes up to 66 and then back down to 60. At the halfway point it is at 90 and starts going down to 80 and then back up to 90 as your turning the knob up. Anyone experience this and fix it?

I just unplugged my battery and cleaned the terminals real good. Seems to have worked as it's been two weeks now without any problems. Maybe the computer just needed reset.

Try accessing the self diagnostics by pressing the AUTO and OFF buttons simultaneously w/ ignition switch ON. There are 6 codes, A-F indicated as follows:

A - fan vertical bars 3,4 of 5 are missing. = In car temp sensor fault
B - fan vertical bars 2, 4 of 5 are missing. = Outside air temp sensor fault
C - fan vertical bars 2, 3 of 5 are missing. = sunlight sensor fault
D - arrow indicating air to floor vent is ON = evap temp sensor fault
E - ON is illuminated = air mix control motor fault
F - OFF is illuminated = blower motor fault

Turn control to OFF to cancel self-diagnostic mode.

It looks to be fairly easy to remove the climate control. Unfortunately the temperature control knob function is not shown on the wiring diagram, so you can't tell if its a stepped resistor or some other type of control device. It might be worth removing, cleaning w/ WD40 and reinstalling. Sometimes you get luckly. Othewise, you'll need to scour the boneyards for a replacement.

good luck

Its very easy to remove the climate control unit.

Just take off the fake wood with a butter knife.

The Climate Control unit has 2 wiring harnesses..

I'd inspect those, blow out any dust and reinstall.
