02 Sensor and Radio code
02 Sensor and Radio code
HELP!
I bought my 3.2 TL about a year ago from a guy who took excellent care of it. Haven't had a single problem so far...but..My CEL came on a couple of days ago, the shop said it was fault code P0125 (Right 02 Sensor) and wanted $350-$450 to replace it. Anyone know of other factors that might cause the sensor to send a code? I want to eliminate other possible causes before I spend the cash to replace this thing. Also, is it a complicated affair to swap it out yourself? I'd be willing to do it if it wasn't a pain and would save me a couple hundred bucks. any advice would be useful, since I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff.
Also, I tried to reset the CEL by pulling the 10A fuse, knowing I'd have to re-enter the radio code. I have the code from acura for my radio, but it won't accept it after numerous attempts to enter the code. Am i missing something? Does the car have to be running, or just on, or do I have to shut the radio off and back on again or something?

I could not find a code P0125 for a 97 3.2TL. Perhaps the code was P0135, which is right O2 sensor heater circuit fault. This usuallly means the heater element in the O2 sensor has failed open and requires replacement. You can check heater element by disconnecting the O2 sensor connector and checking resistance of the heater circuit (2 black wires are the heater wires). Resistance should be 10-40 ohms.
You probably entered the code incorrectly or you have the wrong code. Reset the radio security system by pulling the fuse to the radio for 20 secs and try to enter the code again.
good luck

Answer
to above posting only___
Check in the glovebox for a card with a handwritten 5 digit code written on it, also look on the edge of the glovebox and inside the fuse box covers, sometimes people write them down in the car
Otherwise- remove the radio- see thread in this forum- and get the serial number of the radio itself, take that to an acura dealer with proof you own that car- they see all the numbers match and provide you with the code no charge
