ABS Problem

I have an 1996 2.5 TL. Its doing great at 160K miles until last week when the ABS light started to glow randomly.

When I turn on the ignition key (not start it), the ABS light comes ON and I can hear 6 short beeps. Sometimes, the light stays on even after starting the engine and sometimes it goes off ! The braking is all good and I cannot feel any difference.

Someone told me that it might be a problem with the sensors or the brake shoes !!

Can someone please suggest what the problem might be ? Thanks in advance ! :-)

you'll need to retrieve an error code that causes the ABS light to turn on, then go on from there.

You have to short the service check connector under the glove box, turn ignition switch to ON, and ABS light will flash DTC's w/ short flashes; for instance F-F-F-F-P-F-F is flash code for 42, a LF wheel sensor fault.

The service check connector is a two wire connector, usually blue, under the glove box attached to trim. Release connector from hanger and install a short wire shorting jumper.

good luck
