Wow....
Wow....
I took my car to the dealership (inskip automall) today to get some things fixed and they told me i need new brakes and rotors, that my rotors are so rusted they cant even resurface them AND if i put new pads only on, they would just shred. This costs over 1000 to repair. The annoying thing is that when i bought the car 4 months ago, i had the same dealer give it a very thourough inspection which it passed with no problem, they even said the brakes were fine. So im gonna try and get at least 20% off this repair because thats just unfair. who agrees? thoughts?
i think your getting reamed. Personally you can go buy some slotted or crossed drilled rotors and break pads for roughly 300 - 350 and take it to a local/trustworthy shop that might charge you anywhere between 3 - 5 hours of labor which is around 50 - 65 per hour, which is still a lot less than 1k. Look around dong get jipped. chances are they see you are 18 and are willing to go with it.
Don't stand for that. Go somewhere else. For an entire set of new rear brakes, my Acura dealer only charged me $400 CDN. Besides, brakes are a relatively easy item, not something Honda/Acura specific, so take it to a local shop.

You have been had. If you paid by credit card, dispute it. You were told 4 months ago they were ok, they sold you the car and lied to your face. Then turn around and rip you the 2nd time......unless calipers were replaced....should not cost that much. Go get your money!
That is insane. I just had my rear brakes and rotors changed locally for about $250.
Inskip is a horrible dealership to go to in my oppinion. I have had huge issues with them before. I'll look up my post, but basically, I made an appointment for an O2 sensor to get replaced under warantee, it was dropped off thursday night to be done friday, they found excuses for why it wasn't done until monday. They told me to come monday morning, I went, monday afternoon they finished, and then lost my car for about 20 minutes.

I completely flushed for the extra cash, which I was planning on, and thye went into a little detail about it. It also took less then the projected hour. When I brought it in (its actually a first gen) the service guy went out to my car with me, and wrote down the VIN number, informed me of all outstanding recalls and the like, which was none. He told me that I could get free spark plugs/wires and oil/filter change, which I also went and took advantage of. I was told 1-1.5 hours, and it took about 1.5 hours, so I was happy. I was also called when parts came in, and they have a sitting area with TV and magazines, plus some coffee if you'd like to pay for it. Also got my radio code no hassle, just gave him the serial number, and he got me the code. No problem with the car being insured/registered under someone elses name either, it's under my father's name because I'm only 17.
Their part's department is also pretty well, from the experiance I have had, they have had a couple small items that I have needed, for reasonable prices.

I did not buy my car here either, I bought it from a used dealership my parents have used ebfore, which is down the street from here. Before I picked up the car, the place I bought it from brought it to get inspected, but it failed because it blew an O2 sensor and the check engine light came on. The used dealership called Inskip, and askd how much it would be to get it fixed, they said it would be free, under warantee, and they made an appointmen to get it done on a Friday morning in about two weeks. I dropped the car off Thursday evening, and on Friday around 3P.M. got a phone call, they would not have the car done. The lady I spoke with could not give me any real reasons, and actually gave me different excuses each time I called. Saturday, I drove my parents car up there to have a chat, but their service department wasn't open. I spoke with a manager, and he appologized, and said that it would be done first thing Monday morning. Monday morning I get a phone call around 8:30 that wakes me up, and I am told my car is in the garage and should be done soon, before lunch. I get a friend to drive me up at about noon, and we go to the Inskip dealership, where the lady tells us they had jsut started working on the car, and to give them a little bit of time and it should be done. I go off to a huge Strawberry's with my friend to wait, and about an hour later get a call saying they have started working on other things on my car, an exhaust manifold, and ball joints, without consulting me. She tells me it should be done at 3:30, so I tell her I will be there at 3:30 to pick up the car. When I get there, I am told they are just finishing up, and at 4:15 I am finally getting ready to pick up the car, which I asked not to be washed because I had to be to work at 5. She calls around, and they cant find my car for about 15 minutes. So finally by around 4:40, I have my reciept of what was done, and I leave. My appointment, to replace an O2 sensor, under warantee, took 4 days, a lot of running around, and a lot of bullshit. Needless to say, I was quite angry and was not satisfied at all, I will never go back ever again.

I bought Front Rotors for $102.xx (Import Replacement Parts) and Rear Rotors for $92.xx (TireRack). These prices are inclusive of shipping and the rotors are plain Brembos. I bought the brake pads from Delray Acura for $92.xx (Front and Rear including shipping and taxes). The front brake pads are Akebono ACT and rear are Nissin (didn't know Acura used these
).
Dunno the labor for changing these - but shouldn't be too much I hope.

i ended up going with inskips repair. they were actually really friendly about it, they took 30% off the entire repair including all the other things they did to it. Plus, washed and cleaned my car, put gas in the tank, gave me a ride if i needed one, let me use multiple coupons and as usual they back up all there service. It all eventually evened out, and now my car is amazing. the tranny is so smooth, you cant even hear the car running, ill do 90 on the highway and not know. Im overally pleased, and i love my car.
plus my dad paid for it
i do however have my timing belt coming up in about 4k
