Don't most shops give you a lifetime warranty? Nice price though, did you go with charcoal?

did the tint go to all the way to the top of the rear windshield over the bubbles? it looks weird.

it will never look perfect over the dot matrix... your best bet is to have the tint shop cut off the tint and apply black vinyl over the dot matrix... it will cover it... i had the rear windshield retinted 3 times and it was always spotty like that... now with the vinyl it looks perfect.. ill take a pic this afternoon...

i had them stop before the dot matrix and i put on a silver windshield banner (same color as my car) put over that area so you cant see the tint cutoff under there. our car looks good with a rear windshield banner IMO.

KaMLuNg, My tint shop stopped at the dotmatrix becuse it would not look right, and I was wondering what I could do about that. Thanks again for yet another awesome tip! The shop that I used didn't even offer to do the black vinyl for me. They probably would have been more excited if I was driving an old retired police crown victoria with 22's and some company logo painted on it. (the ride of everyone that worked there.) I will call another shop to see if they can help me out.

it's very unlikely they'll take it off for free. there's almost always a removal fee. i know it's not the same thing but when i had to have the tint removed off of my driver side window it was $60 just to remove it.

I did a little research and found this link.

http://www.tintdude.com/dot-matrix.html

This should assist in figuring out how to properly tint the dot matrix. Although it appears that there really isn't a concensus on the 'right' way to do this, it seems that tinting with glue over the dot matrix OR sanding down the dot matrix is probably the way to go to achieve a clean result. I'm really dubious about placing black vinyl on top. I've seen it and it looks amateurish.

i just got back from the place i got it done and they claimed the water under the tint where it looks odd will evaporate eventually to which i skeptically nodded my head...

i'm gunna push it down with a card and stuff

im a 2gener but i wandered into here ...... trust me i had the dot matrix tinted on my 00 maxima (my previous car) for about 6 or 7 months.... it looked bubbled up the whole time... its not going to go away .. have them trim it off and vinyl it that is probably your best bet

I finally got around to having a couple vehicles tinted.

$100 for 5 windows lifetime warranty with paperwork. Could not pass it up.

Did a decent job, covered the dot matrix with the tint. It looks a little better than your pix above, but same situation. When it was still wet, and drying, I rubbed it in every once in a while.

The guy is in Crofton, MD.

I'm on the fence about taking my BMW to him because up the road there is a shop that has done other cars for me and my brother in the past, and they truly do an exceptional job, at a higher price (Tint Man - it's on the web).

i'm going home this weekend so i'll put up pictures for you guys that wanted to see my car. the banner changes the shape of the rear windshield but i like it and it also serves the purpose of hiding that tint cutoff line before the dot matrix.

Hey that looks good

That's exactly what I need to do, but in black.... I don't have anything over the dot matrix right now and it looks crap cause of the tint cutoff.

Sorry to bring this back from the archives, it is just after 9 years owning 98 my 3.2 I finally had the tints done. ATL summer is brutal! 35% front (legal) and 20% all around. I paid $169, lifetime warranty. Tints were charcoal and made by Advantage. FINALLY!

Was tempted to do 20 all around but them popo will write you a ticket in a heartbeat!

Looking good!

I had 35% but when inspection came I had to take it off. I now have 30% and I think it looks perfect.

Your car looks sooo good! Black with silver accents - perfect!

What did you do with the rear window? Because at the beginning of this thread other people were talking about putting vinyl on the dot matrix thing, so what did you do with it? Mind posting a pic of the rear?
