time for some new rotors

so it has been about 4 yrs now and i think my rotors are shot... they are starting to shake when braking at highway speeds so they are more than likely warped... currently have the rotora slotted on there but no shop in my area would be willing to turn them...

do they make brembo blanks for our cars? anyone have any other good experiences with rotor brands that don't warp so much?

I had brembo blanks that I bought from TireRack a few years back. They warped pretty fast, though. I Think my calipers might have been finished, but I'm not too sure.

ok i went with some Raybestos... it may make sense for us to put together a brake rotor database with times on how long it took to warp...

Kamlung, what model Raybestos did you decide to go with? I was about to pose this question to the forum when I saw your post. I am about to replace all my rotors and pads and was looking at the Advanced Technology rotors and pads for F&R. They look to be great parts, but I have never used Raybestos before, so I was unsure. I generally like a happy medium between quality parts that will last and ones that are also cost-conscious.
RockAuto.com seems to be a great site for price and selection.

Apparently TSXs suffer from some serious rotor warping, and it seems that installing some drilled rotors solves the problem. I owned my TL for 3 years and I changed the rotors twice. Maybe it's an Acura thing? Maybe the way to go is Cross-drilled?

i had slotted Rotoras on my car for 4 yrs without an issue... but i also have a slightly larger diameter caliper 11.1" vs the stock 11.08" with the type II legend calipers...

so it seems like perhaps the drilled or slotted rotors can help with the additional cooling feature to prevent warping... but my 3G TL doesn't seem to have this issue...

i only made the switch back to regular rotors since it is now my mom's DD and the car isn't driven as hard as it used to when it was my primary car... so regular rotors should be sufficient...

That is a good promotion...worth getting the rotors now even if I don't install them quite yet - plus they have a rebate on pads too! I think I have decided on the Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors and pads. Since this is my M-F daily driver and I only put ~8,000 mi/yr for my 50/50 city/highway commute, I hope these will last several years since I only drive hard occasionally.

Rockauto.com parts & prices:
Raybestos AT Front Rotors #96562 $48.00
Raybestos AT Rear Rotors #980151 ~$45.00 (out of stock)
Raybestos AT Ceramic Front Pads #ADT503C $44.00
Raybestos AT Ceramic Rear Pads #ADT537C $33.00

~$263.00 not including shipping and other small parts. I haven't priced brake jobs lately, but I have to suspect to get a local shop or chain to do a complete job with a bleed, it would be at least $500 including parts.

Our rotors are too thin, so one hard brake is all it takes to warp. The solution is to go to a Type II rotor/caliper, but barring that, you can get a proper drilled rotor (not a blank that has been drilled). Warping problem solved.

~Cheers~

If it's rotors and pad time. just get the set slotted and cross drilled front and back on ebay for less than $200. Then pay a shop to put them on. Nice deal. for less than $400 for parts and labor. Dont go to the steelership! -_-

what the heck are you guys doing to get the brakes hot enough to warp them? you know that most race cars dont even warp rotors right? seems like there might be a deeper problem if they warp too fast. my pads and rotors are 4yrs old and i bought my car from a teenager that you know drove like crap and im on the same set she was on. just my $0.02 on that, im far from a professional so.... i did see however that raybestos makes their own "slotted" rotor that looks pretty boss. ive never liked drilled rotors cause you usually see tons of cracks around the holes when pulled off.

Brembo makes the best for the money, but they are hard to find.

When needing rotors and pads. Go to ebay and get crossed drilled and slotted with cerm. pad for $200.00 front and back and have a good auto man put them on. You will love the upgraded brakes.
