I have a 98 3.2, which I love dearly. I know I need a new starter as I've been nursing mine since January (it will go weeks just fine, then click a couple times before starting). Today however, things got bad. Once it fired up the starter would not stop turning over. My car was running and the starter kept turning over. I turned the car off but the starter kept running. By the time I got the battery unplugged things were smoking and smelling awful. Can anyone recommend a way to avoid a tow? The car's on a busy street and I'm not prepared to pull the axle to remove the starter. I thank you all in advance.
