Sorry guys...

Sorry guys...i've looked all over the site and i cant seem to find the answer to my question. So if there is one here and i didn't see it, dont hate me. Anyways, i was thinking about lowering my car and i went over to a place to get the estimate on how much it was going to be. he told me a price and he said that the back springs would be fine but there fronts would be a problem. he said the front control arms are such a tight fit that if i lowered it, then everytime i hit a bump it would smack the wheel well. he said he didn't know if there was a kit made just for the fronts like an adjustable control arm or if it would be fine with just installing the lowering springs. does anyone know the answer to this? has anyone just installed the lowering springs and if so, how's the ride and everything else?

I've never looked into it but I think there are camber kits designed for that purpose.

the shop you went to is retarded.

goto a new shop.

MY 2.5TL has been lowered for 3 years on Eibach Prokit springs. No bumping of control arms.

so you just bought the springs and you didn't need anything else? i'm thinking of going with the goldline springs or dropzone. i'm kinda leaning towards dropzone b/c i cant really justify spending all the money just to have my car drop 1.5". it's too subtle. i just want to make sure i can JUST buy the springs, install them, and have everything be fine.

bought the springs 3 years ago and had acura install them. Bought a SPC camber kit a year ago and installed it. Had the car aligned after both installs. Probably didnt need the camber kit, but i like the adjustability of having it.

i got eibach sportlines and was lowered almost 2 inches. no problems except for a camber issue in the rear. i just needed to get a kit thats all. anyway you will be fine with lowering. my bro is lowerd on eibach prokit for his 3.2 for almost 2 years now and has no problems what so ever.
your shop has no idea what the hell they are talking about Go to a better shop and im sure you'll get a straight answer.

If you go that low you will be replacing shocks every 6 months (depending on driving habits). How much are the SUS parts? DZ springs are cheap, around USD$100~ without install. Look into getting better shocks/struts as spending the extra money now will pay off down the line.

~Cheers~

It is possible for the upper control arm to hit the shock tower. That's what happens in my '03. For my car, Ingalls makes an upper control arm with a camber plate built-in, or just a ball-joint type. You should check the availability of parts for yours. I don't know much about the aftermarket support of the 1st gen.

If you're going for a low, subtle drop, then you could probably get away with no camber kits; get an alignment after like a week and see how bad it is. And you shouldn't have a problem with the UPC hitting the shock tower, either. The shocks can handle a subtle drop. You put that much pressure on the shocks with baggage and passengers, anyway.

so it sounds like everyone is saying that i should just go with the springs with less drop (1.5" as opposed to 2.5") i'd really like that low drop from dropzone but i dont want to ruin anything and have to pay more for it later. thanks a lot guys. i'll go ahead and order the goldlines. =)

I had my car lowered 3 or 4 inches but nothing hits ( stock wheels though) and no camber kits.

a camber kit wont improve the ride. Its there so you can properly align the car and thus, gives more tire contact with the pavement.

If you go lower than 1.5", you'll be buying new tires every few months.
