Not. But I've used it to release the shifter to take out the center console.

Yeah, I thought it was a shift lock over-ride. Like, when the shifter is locked (no key in ignition or problem with it) you can over ride it.

Shift stick is always locked unless...

1. Key is in the ignition and engine On.
2. Key is in the key hole by the shifter to unlock it.

Otherwise, it can not be unlocked...

i used the key to unlock it for the same reason miltcharlie used it for... take apart the center console... M&M heaven down there

Also used it to sneak out once... put the car in N and rolled it out... 17 y.o.'s

ok, I just went outside and did it, lol.

When I have it in N, the steering wheel locks, *rolls eyes*

and how do you use it to release the shifter and get to the center console?

You insert key and while key is fully inserted you move shifter.

When I first did it I found like $.50

are you talking about taking the shifter off? or just getting down in there, under the console? if that's the case (the latter), then all you have to do is take bolts out.

oh, and you can shift car if engine isn't on, but key is to the ON position. i think that's what spooky meant, but was just clarifying.

and kamlung....ha...nice avatar.
