Removing Pinstripe?

I was just wondering if anyone has done this or not. Mine is starting to peel, starting from the inside of the door and working its way out, I've noticed that its silver undernieth the gold though, and looks almost like another stripe. If it is possible to take them off, I think it would look nice

Does anyone know for sure if they are decals? Or what is up with the two layers?

Good question. I got mine taken off by a pro, he used a heatgun, I know that much.

Hmm, that probably means that they are adhesive, which is good I just didn't want to find out that there is nothing under them somehow, or painted on. I saw someone remove painted on pinstripes once, a lot of wetsanding and polishing went into that task, more then I would want to take on.

They were definitely adhesives in my case.

Ya you can do it yourself. But be prepared to spend some time. You can use heatgun, and even your fingernails. I took mine off of my Accord one day. Took me a few hours. Then used rubbing compound and wax to take away the lines, but you could still see them jus a little bit. Then my car got painted, and they were gone. I like my stripes, but I must admit, def cleaner without them.

Goo Gone and hot blower. What you see is the adhesive strip. Need to take off both. Takes time but well worth it. After you take them out, rubbing compound, wax, buff and you are set to go!

Yes. They should be adhesives. All you need to do is to use a hair dryer, heat the stripes up and slowly peel it off. Remove the remaining adhesives with Goo Gone.

Unfortunately for me, the pinstripes were painted.

God effin damnit. My pinstripes are randomly painted/not painted undernieth.

Front Passanger fender, bottom is painted underneith, top isn't.
Front Passanger door, both are painted undernieth.
Rear Passanger door, One painted, one not.

Damn...so now I have a door without a stripe. Maybe I can just take them all off and try my hand at some paint touchup.

I was wrong. The front passanger door and rear passanger fender have paint undernieth and look nice, the rear passanger door and front passanger fender have primer underneith, looks like crap.

I think I might just get some black striping to put down. Something, I dunno, damn.

I was just trying to get rid of the tacky gold ones, cause well, I think they are tacky as hell.

I wasn't able to, so right now it is black on one side, gold on the other, but soon to be black both sides.

unsane- was ur car in an accident before you got it? can't imagine how ur car would leave the factory with part painted, part primered under the stripe..... weird.

that's looking like my next step, but not feeling a paint job till next year or so- damn sure not over a pinstripe ...
