Question about replacing shocks for 2.5TL

Greetings all,

I'm about ready to purchase new shocks/struts for my wife's 2.5 TL.
I have narrowed it down to either KYB or Koni Reds from Tirerack.com.
I have redearched other threads and know that the 90-97 accord shocks should fit the TL (thanks mtbr64)

My question is: Is this a difficult DIY project?
I know I can take it to the shop, for $200. But , has anyone done this himself.
If so, is it hard. I mean like do I need to take the springs out too, hence, so I need a spring compressor?
The money I hope to save will be used to purchase HID's for the 2.5 TL (next project).

Thanks in advance. I will do a complete write up with pictures if I decide to do this myself.

if you're replacing them, yes you will need to remove the springs and therefore, will need a spring compressor. you can usually go to an auto parts store and pay for them but when you return them, you'll get your money back. i've never changed them on our car but i've done other and it's all pretty much the same procedure. getting to the back ones though is kind of a pain because you have to take out the back seats but that only takes a couple minutes.

Thanks for the tip daemonicus.

While scouraging the web, I found this informative article.

Replacing Shock Absorbers

Hopefully I will complete this project this weekend, good weather permitted, and not kill myself in the process.
