You guys drive your cars through potholes??? :shakehead I try to avoid them...

What I do drive my car through is curbs... view sig...

No pot hole experiences here... try to avoid most of them... although... now that i'm in AZ (n-Arizona = Big Nose in Spanish) i've hit a couple potholes in my bro's GMC Jimmy... 4X4 so it doesn't really phase it...

Last night on the other hand... as i was turning right at a light I hit a pothole in the right lane (turn lane) which was not paved... While i was turning I felt the rear swing a bit left (sliding on the loose rocks) and it hit the pothole and the truck just chimmy'd left and right... I was shitting bricks that i would flip my bro's truck... He would have killed me...

BTW: he's letting me use his truck over here in Arizona while my car is in the shop in California... My wife takes him and picks him up from school... How nice of him huh... and i'm over here messing it up...

Off Topic Story about my bro's truck with question:
Does Arizona have a law that if so and so much of your wheel is exposed you have to have those paddles so you don't kick up dirt and rocks???

With that said... I was driving to work the other day... and this lifted up truck with huge tires (camera was out of battery couldn't take pic) turns in front of me... So i was like... i'll stay about 3 cars away from this guy because he's going to be kicking up a bunch of rocks (couldn't get in another lane because its a two way road only)... Well, I didn't see none and as we come to the stop light... 1 rock got stuck to his tire's thread and kicks up and dings the windsheild... So that sucks...

<~~~ should be :spooky: because everything bad is just happening to me in cars... nothing the insurance can't cure though...

well i'm moving to AZ in july...i can't wait!! i'm not sure about the laws there as such that pertain to what you were asking. however...i'm sure that IF there is such a law, it is most likely one of those like the tint type condition. that is such that if any passing cop is either bored, in a bad mood, or it's towards the end of the month, they may stop you. most of the time, however, they don't care. now that's just an example, since i think AZ has a very soft tint law due to the heat, etc. but i wouldn't worry about it for your bro's truck. although that may screw you in the end if you keep following jacked up chevs, etc. i'd stay even farther back...but i'm picky.

I try to avoid them too, but the roads up here are either fine, or look like:

O o
o

o O
o

You get the idea

If its not on a main road though, I'll stop and let cars going the other direction go past , so that I can get around the holes.

Dub, are your bumper lenses smoked? Or is it weird lighting?

some holes cant be avoided. For example, pot hole on the high-way filled with rain at night. No way could you see that coming.

Ah, sorry, I guess I just wasn't awake enough to see the little bit of orange they had in them. The would look hot though, if you could tint them green to match the car, or just black to blend in down there. Maybe this summer...

North Carolina has pretty good roads.

I'm up in DC frequently and their roads ain't so good. I'm stock rims so I don't have to worry about bending those, but I have had a tire pop one time.

Try not hitting any puddles... because chances are... you hit a puddle... your going to hit a pot whole... you can still see where potholes are in the rain... because... the puddle looks very obvious... compared to the road... but then you'll get that dumb cop saying you're swerving all over the road... so its basicly a no win situation...

Roads in Toronto can get pretty bad after a winter like the one we just had! I had to get one of my rims fixed last year for a crack. The other three have minor dents in them, but nothing major. They still look sweet!! But this is the last time I put LIGHTWEIGHT 18's on a car. Too easily damaged. I'l be going with er Chrome or stilll race stule, but with smaller gaps in between the spokes as that's where mine are all damaged.

I've been driving my daughter back and forth to school in Princeton and that rich town has the worse roads! Potholes, patches, etc.

Well recently I couldn't avoid one of the potholes. Got a bubble in the tire - front passenger. Since the tires that came with the car are close to shot, I bought 4 new ones. Just had them mounted and balanced.

Mechanic told me that the rim on that tire is bent - due to the pothole, but he also discovered one of the other tire's rim bent.

He balanced them and test drove and no vibration up to 60 mph. So, I'll see what happens - I really don't want to have to buy new rims.

I am going to call and complain about the one tire and rim to someone at Princeton Township and hopefully I can get some compensation/reimbursement.

Good luck on that. Seems like NJ is littered with pot holes from my experiences there.

DC isnt much better, especially on the Beltway.

Repair Rims

In searching for places that repair bent rims I found 2 - Wheel Collision in PA and here in NJ a place that is a mobile unit that will home to your home - Jersey Shore Alloy Wheel Repair.

Anybody familiar with them?

When I used to have a 1990 4Runner I knocked it out of alignment over a pothole. it was almost as deep as the wheel. I think it was actually a sinkhole. With my TL, I slow down and avoid them, or if I have to hit it, I slow down real slow.
