New Here! Check Engine Issue
Hi everubody I'm new here, I'm form California and just bought a 96 TL 2.5 I need to do the smog test, but the Check Engine is ON they told me that they won't do it if the light is ON, I found some info on google stating that I could get the code myself by runing a cable in some slot in the ECU and hen put the switch in the ON position and the check engine light will blink to let me know he code, anyone knows about that?
And also any advise to get the car ready for the smog test, I changed the park Plugs, air filter and will change oil.

I read about this earlier today.
You can find someone that can come and take the codes out of your car.
Try it out.

This is the INFO that i found:
You can check it by going to the passenger side where the ecu is above that there should be this wire with a blue female connector, it shouldn't be connected to anything now take a wire and loop it it so it goes in both holes. Once you have this done now turn the key to the on position look at the check engine light it should give you some blinks, long blinks =10fast blinks=1so if you get a long-long-fast-fast its a code 22 then you just look it up in a manual to find what the code refers to.

Any suggestions?
The manual code procedure you describe will work to extract the codes. It's the OBD1 system which Honda retained at least through 1998. Watch the light flashes carefully several times and write them down. Code/s will repeat after a long (2-3secs) pause, and there is a similar long pause between successive codes, if multiple codes are presented. It's easy, but takes patience to get the flashes noted correctly.
The blue 2-wire connector (Service Check Connector) may be plugged into a dummy holder. Pinch connector and release from holder.
good luck
