installing an amp

So i'm going to put a sub in my car, already got the amp and the amp kit. However how do you run the power wire to the trunk? Did you have to drill holes?. How did you install your amp? Let me know thanks.

I have the 1st gen TL 2.5.

Also the screen dash displays SRS (in red). I took it to the shop and they couldn't figure out why. Does anyone know how to fix this?

check firewall if it has any existing holes. if not make sure you only drill the size required other wise you might get any water or something in there.

Not sure what side the battery on in 2.5TL but I recommend wiring on the side battery is and don't go cheap. Use 4 gauge wire atleast with some fuse. and I also recommend changing your stereo to some good after market unit if you still have stock stereo. Pull the door sills out and put wires under the carpet. Taking rear seats off can be a bitch and there is not enough space to work with. GL with the install...

The bench has two bolts, and the back has four. They're all in the crack between the two, so an extension and a flashlight will help a lot. Tilt the bench forward then lift up, otherwise you;ll damage the area the hooks are attached. Pull the bottom of the back towards you a few inches, then hit it with your palm from the bottom to take it off its hooks. Might as well clean while you're under there as I'm sure there are some dried drink stains, haha. Mine had a whole SHITLOAD of coffee from the previous owner(s), some of it that still looked wet.

~Cheers~

P.S. I also found half a doggie treat under the carpet, and $0.50.

Tuck the excess wire under the seats when you are done so it will look clean and also so it doesn't look like you have spaghetti in your trunk.

Yeah, find some way to tie the wires together, be it a loom or just zip ties every 6 inches.

Close the trunk with a flashlight on inside. Pull the seatback out (without removing bolts), and peek through. Get a hanger and poke it towards the light in the trunk and then use it to fish your wires.

I went through an existing wire grommet on the battery side (passenger in the 2.5) of the firewall.
Run your power wires and signal wires on different sides of the car to lessen chances of noise/alt whine.

The rears have two clips, both about an inch and a half from the sides. Use your fingers and you should be able to pop them off. If you somehow break them in half, I believe I still have a set lying around you can have.

its a single 12'' re se 600 watt rms but many ppl say it handles up too 800. i settled for a prefab box cuz my custom made one woudlnt fit -.- stupid me lol. the amp is a audiopipe 15001d, puts out 1500 watts @ 1 ohm, 950 @ 2 ohm, which is what the system at right now. make a video for ur system too man, let me see it.
