There are two wire harnesses that connect to the ignition. One is smaller, and I was wondering if anyone knows what it's for. I disconnected it and the chime that sounds when you leave the key in the igntion has stopped. Does it do anything else? Will it effect my alarm in any way?

 

Try checking to see if you can still unlock the steering lock. I forgot if that's related to that harness.
