Alright so last week I got my windows tinted..... 5%..... looks bad ass, but I was sitting at a gas station vaccuming my floor mats. My friend Tyler was sitting in his Legend with 5% tints as well when a cop pulls up behind him. I'm like oh fuck, and he just sits there for about five minutes. Finally Tyler pulls up next to me and the cop flips his lights. I kept vaccuming and descretely rolled all my windows down. Low and behold he came over to me and asked if he could check my tint. I agreed and he wrote both of us tickets... Correct me if I am wrong, but 5% tint is legal for "OFF road" use, and since we were at a gas station and not on the government highway is it legal for him to write me a ticket...#2 My car was not running and I was not even sitting in the driver's seat. I'm thinking about contesting it if its possible, but I dont wanna waste my time. I have heard that if you take a picture of your car w/no tints into court they will throw out the charge... If so... I have a nice pic of my stock car which I'm sure the court would be satisfied with...

P.S. Tints look tight as hell, I'm working on a post w/pics of my TL and her new makeover---Look for it soon

Well, my advice would be to go legal. When you least want to be pulled over, it can/may/will happen.

Basically, you had to use a road to get there, right? Judge will probably embarress you, and charge you court fee if you take it in. But then there is the possibility of the officer not showing up.

If he does, and you have pictures be prepared for:

-so, you knew it was illegal.
-it is legal now, right?
-good, pay the court fee, and get out of my court, young man.

Eh. Yeah. I have considered stripping them off and going back to 35%.... Looks like this will be my best solution. C'mon guys your supposed to encourage me to be defiant of the law! haha Kidding.... Thanks for the advice

there are tint laws in Atlanta??? wat??!?!?! its so hot down there how is that possible??? in TX u can tint ur car dark and cops won't give u probs... 35% is the legal level tho

They threw out the tint law for in June... so everyone and their mother went out and got limo tint.... Low and behold in August they reinstated it and everyone is getting tickets... My friend Tyler has had his for years and got his first ticket w/me today... Of course I have em for 6 days and I get a ticket.

Did you get the work done when it was legal, or when it was illegal?

You might be able to get some sort of a deal if when you got the tint, it was legal, and you were not expecting the law to go back to how it was.

Nah, I knew it was illegal the second I got it done... Honestly (as paranoid as I am) I was going to get 35% (legal), but looking at my buddies slammed Legend with 5%, I just couldnt help but give in... They look good though, see for yourself. Click below

Try telling that to the judge. With a great deal of luck, the tint ticket may get thrown out....


... But that other ticket (for speeding, running a red, illegal turn, or worse - DWI) will stick.
