humming noise
humming noise
Lately, ive been hearing this humming noise when im driving, it goes away when I let off the gas. I first noticed it a few days ago on the highway and it was very loud, the higher the speed, the louder it gets. Any thoughts on this? I thought it could be a rotor, but it doesnt sound like a grinding noise.
No, because i only hear it when I give it some gas, when im around 30mph, its very quiet, until i give it some gas, and when im idleing around 40-50mph, its quiet still, until i give it some gas.
Ok, i brought it by a local shop, they say its not the brakes, but its probably a bearing of some sort in the transmission. Im not sure if they know what they are talking about, so im setting up an appt at my Acura dealership near me. Hopefully this wont cost me an arm and a leg to fix
I think I know what you are talking about, or something similar to it...long story short...my car was stuck on a haybail and the hay caught on fire. So my friend tried to rock the car back and forth going between reverse and D2 while I threw sand on the fire...anyway, he didnt wait for the RPM's to go down a couple of times and so the transmission made that nasty noise. Ever since, between 1k and 2500 rms, my car makes this weird noise, kinda like the one when someone dangles their keys. Anyway, its buggin the hell outta me too and I just havent gotten around to taking it in.

no mine sounds more like grinding, and yea, its sorta between those rpms, cause on the highway, when i apply a little gas its pretty loud, apply a lil more, and it gets quieter. If its more than a $100 to fix (which it probably will be) im just gonna say $!#@ it and take care of it later. Most likely its not something serious, because I only notice the sounds, I dont notice any difference of driving characteristics.
Hey - this might sound crazy, but do you have a sunroof wind deflector?
I ask, because on my car, it hums between 50-70km/h. you can test it by opening the sunroof and pressing up on it in the middle to stop it from vibrating. It should go away immediately if that's the source of the problem...
