Question Help with Blower removal 96 TL

The blower motor stopped working on my HVAC system after growling for over a year and intermittent operation. I have the repair manual and the suggested procedure is to pull the evaporator and pull it out from under the dash on the passanger side. Is it easier to pull the dash and and remove the blower box from above or is there still a lot of stuff in the way when the dash is out?

I would just pull it out from under the dash. If you pull the dash, you'll end up spending more time pulling the dash, then refitting it. While it might be easier to access the blower with the dash out, you might as well spend the time to take out the dash to just removing everything from underneath the dash.

Blower Removal

I went ahead and pulled it from under the dash. The biggest problem was access from the drivers side and removing the evaporator core cover and screws.

Rbizzell,

Did you follow all of these steps? -

1. Remove the mounting nut from the blower unit.

2. Detach the connector from the recirculation control motor.

3. Remove the screw from the pipe clamp.

4. Unfasten the mounting bolt, then remove the blower unit by pulling it back and to the right.

It may be necessary to remove the three self tapping screws that hold the recirculation control motor to the flange collar.

Relevant bolts and screws are pictured here:
