Fog projectors good for HID?

Has anyone changed their foglights to HID and had good results? The foglight housing is kinda projector-ish, so I thought it'd might be a good setup for HID. I just don't want a screwy light pattern.

I think it would be useless to HID it when driving in the fog. As far as pattern concern, it's not as affective as in sharp cut offs, reduced glares, as the OEM Projectors made by the manufactures.

Does the light have a pretty distinct cutoff line (first pic below), or is it scattered (second pic below)? Which one is most like your HID fogs?

GOOD:

BAD:

Or if you happen to have a pic of yours, that would be GREAT

it is like the first pic.. but the light comes up higher cause the fog housing is rounded... it is shorter but much higher... like i can see up and on the sides when i am driving at night...

Could those be aimed downward like the headlights? And is the light off to the sides too much with the HID (does it blind oncoming traffic)?

it shouldn't be blinding oncoming traffic cuz it's a fog light, and yes u can adjust the foglight just like the headlight.

Oh, you can definitely blind on coming traffic if they aren't aimed properly. Here's a couple of pics of the light pattern:

Close up

Car backed up 5-foot out. See how the light scatters almost everywhere?

IMO, the beam pattern is bad for HID lights.

HID can be pretty annoying at night to on coming traffic... except for BMWs, all other cars with HIDs really bother me. It looks as if they have their highs on but I know they don't (you can tell the diff between highs and HID). The only thing worse than that are trucks/SUVs which use HIDs and are behind you. Sure you can get rid of the reflecting light off the rearview mirror but you can't do anything about the sideview mirrors.

Speaking of HIDs... how do these people get those rings of light (seen on the mid-left the pic below)? They look do damn cool at night.

Those are called angel eyes. Do a search.. there's a recent thread about them that I posted some good links for making your own.

I was tempted when I saw the title, "changing fogs to HID" but then realizing, the Yellow is better. I will keep it that way.
