finally made it!

alright, i just recently passed 50k miles on my 1996 2.5TL. it was purchsed in 1995.

there have been no major problems with the car it runs great up to date.

i now qualify for the emissions check, should i get this done? will they replace or service anything? i have been getting cylinder 1 misfire engine light recently. also muffler has been replaced by some aftermarket piece, if this makes a difference.

my car also gets horrible gas mileage, about 15 miles a gallon. and no tune ups to date.

any feedback appreciated...

i always have been running premium fuel. i had the spark plugs changed to bosch last year, could this be a factor? i mostly due city miles, short stop & go trips. i only get a max of 17/18 mpg when i take it real easy on the car no high revs at all.

hellasmania, I was getting about the same, i'd put about 230 miles on per tank...I just got a K&N air filter (old air filter was dirty as hell, i just picked up the car a month or so ago), new fuel filter, tranny flush, radiator flush, alignment and synthetic oil change...runs way more efficient now, but havent had time to even run 1 full tank to know for sure. I'd recommend if you havent, get a K&N or cold air intake, and for sure replace your fuel filter...my car was shifting rough before the tranny flush, and its smoother now, and i bet it gets a little better milage because of the tranny. Oh yeah, there is a pcv valve you can change for under 5 bucks, that should help a little with milage, and a little if the car is idling kind of rough. Just a thought, havent changed that yet, but am planning on it as soon as it gets nice out. :smokin:

yeah, i am due for a tune up. it has been almost 10 years since purchase date. i am planning on taking the car in for the emissions check to see what they do and then i might have some other services done. i am running a new honda filter on the car but i may try the K&N. what is the product model on that?

thanks
