Engine swap?

So I am looking for another TL and I found 2 . Both 96, white, high mileage and blown head gaskets. My TL was 1997 base model. So question is that if there is any major difference between two model years regarding drivetrain other than minor stuff here and there under hood (washer fluid container, radiator reservoir etc). My guess is NO.

Ken, I might need your help to pull the engine out..lol

You reuse the original ECU and it'll be fine, because you can reuse the original engine harness, with minor modifications to sensor locations, etc.

I've seen that. Not looking to spend that much. I just need a good body, don't care for the engine or transmission or even interior, I got it all..

In that case you should do this one but it's funny how this guy tried putting an interior pic from another car cheapest one I've seen even out here there's nothing this cheap 3.2 that is.

Yeah, I saw that one, too, but how much you want to bet that you'd have to pay back reg on it?

Went to check this one out today. It isn't in that bad shape. Some damage to right front fender and drivers front door where it meets the fender. Minor dings here and there. Everything works, windows are super slow. Interior is acceptable, but needs a good cleaning. Steering wheel is worn out. I didn't see any signs of accidents (other than those fenders) but it does have a salvage title. Paint was still shiny and that pearl in white color looked really sweet. .

They bought it from Copart.com with a bill of sale. It hasn't been registered yet. His story was that he was driving to DMV to get it registered and it overheated on the way there. Later found that there was no coolant in the system. . Thats why they didn't register it and want to sell it now. I got the VIN from them and I am going to DMV tomorrow to find out any dues or fines on this car and will talk to them from there.

I checked the SMOG history on the car and it appears that its been in Sacramento area for its whole life.

Deuce, I didn't even read the ad, I just looked at the car. I just read it now and realised it was in Spanish. That the ad was written in Spanish wasn't why I said it needed to have back reg paid.

I was right.

~Cheers~

P.S. Pass on it because of the title, or at least find out why.

Well, considering they got it with only a bill of sale, that implies that they don't have the title. You need to find out where that is first.

As for finding another one, you don't want to have the car shipped or fly out to drive it back, right?

~Cheers~

If there's only a bill of sale hopefully this was a purchase from a tow yard or such because that would make the transaction even easier now just pay reg. shit put that the car was purchased by yourself on the bill of sale for $500 or so just so you can pay less reg. cost. I went to the tow yard where the owner had purchased my car he hadn't registered put my name on the bill of sale we put a different amount sold and I paid like $60 reg. no complications under my name like that.

Relax and pretend to laugh Go90Go it honestly was a sarcastic joke, I have such a sorry sense of humor.

Went to DMV today but no help. They said car should have current registration to find out any pending payments or fee. I am going to call him tomorrow and give him some low ass offer and explain about his screw up and high asking price..

No worries, . I've been temp-banned for less so I just wanted to make it clear that's not why I thought what I had thought.
