D4 Light Replacment
Hey, as with a lot of other people here, my D4 light is out, and I want to replace it so I searched teh forum figuring there was a good writeup/part number around here somewhere,b ut came up empty handed.
So does anyone have a part number for the light that I will need, and where to get it, and just a quick run through of how to get enough of the dash off to pop out the instrument cluster?

I am interested in this fix as well, but I'm wondering how soon after fixing does it take before it burns out again?
Is the batch of bulbs installed from the factory just bad or is there a some other cause?

I took the advice of someone on here and just swapped it with the D1 bulb (doubt I'll ever care about that lighting up!).
To replace (96 3.2TL):
Undo the two screws in the upper part of the gauge cowl. Drop your tilt wheel all the way down, then pull up the rubber flap covering the top of the steering column and remove the 2 screws (one on each side). Then, use a flat, blunt object and start prying up the plastic vent cover. The whole thing is just held in by tabs and pulls out with a firm, short tug. With that off, remove the gauge cowl by just pulling it forward. Then, unscrew the gauge pod by removing the 4 screws, one at each corner. Tilt it forward so you can remove the wiring harnesses on the back and remove the pod completely. The gear indicator bulbs are plainly seen on the back. Just turn them counter-clockwise and remove to do the swap. Reassemble in reverse.
NOTE: For some odd reason right now, I can't remember if the vent cover trim or the gauge cowl comes off first. Either way, you know how to unsecure them, and it will be obvious which has to come off first when you get started.
Cost: $0. If this one burns out, too, I'll probably swap the D2 light before I actually pay the who-knows-what for a I-can't-believe-such-a-little-bulb-costs-this-much part!

My D4 light went out after about 4 years. Then I bought a set of reverse glo indigo guages and it was the perfect time to replace it. Even though it was a pain in the ass, it was well worth it. Only took about an hour. Good luck!

Goto acura dealer and ask for d4 light. It was a special order for me, but only $4.25 with tax included. Installed price was $275.00.
You need to do a forum search here on how to install the indiglo gauges and follow the same procedure, will get you to the d4 light. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS REMOVING THE GAUGE/VENT SECTION B/C IF YOU DO IT SLOW, YOU WILL NOT SNAP THE VENTS, IF YOU RUSH YOU WILL SNAP THEM. It removed this section 4 times and did it slow, heard the plastic creak last two times, but if you go slow you save $270 and it is easy.. FUUck it if you break it, just get the wood kit for $75 and it will cover the crack. DONOT pay acura cause it is too easy to do urself. If you follow forum instructions, and do it ridiculously slow the first time you do it, it will still only take an hour.
