All of the above...

If you've dropped your car with stiffer springs then getting stiffer shocks will help the car to have a better ride (handling and comfort).

If you haven't lowered your car and thought about it, it might be a good time to consider it since the labor cost to replace those will be the same.

I've heard that Tokico shocks & Struts position is about 1/2 inch lower than stock if you want something very slight.

ankii: shocks and struts are basically the same thing, but some cars have struts and some have shocks instead of struts.
our car has struts, you can just buy struts, if you want you can buy a coilover suspension that has struts and coilovers attached (basically an all in one deal) you can also buy struts and get springs seperatly , when they install the struts they will install the springs too.

I have tokico illumina adjustables...........$476 seems a little high, I got mine for about $440 shipped. They are great, if you can afford koni, go for it, but tokico does just fine unless you do some serious road racing or something like that. I'm very happy with my tokicos

got them from this site...... www.autocarparts.com They seem to have the best prices on this stuff, and shipping was really quick. No, I have them on my AV6, but I doubt that the ones for the TL are anymore expensive. I know the AV6 part number is the same as the TL-TL-S part number in the current gen, so I can't imagine they cost anymore for the 1st gen Tl....

I just looked on the site and it doesn't look like tokico makes a strut for the first gen, unless I missed something. Try www.shox.com they have pretty decent prices too.
