A/C Recharge?
A/C Recharge?
What exactly could this mean? I know it could possibly mean a leak in the cooling system and if so how much are we talking???
Could it also be that maybe there is no leak, and it was just low?

I don't think that the Freon can run low, unless some has leaked out. There may be a possibility that there is no leak and some Freon leaked out if/when someone tried to work/check/tamper with your A/C.
Do our 1st Gen still use Freon? I know that it's illegal nowadays. When i had my '91 Prelude, i needed to get it converted (retrofitted) with to accept the current "formula". Has anyone got there A/C recharged and how much did it cost....and was it freon.
No, it's not Freon. It should be R-134A, which is a non-CFC refrigerant. I think it loses it's chemical properties after about 8 years or so with regular use. A recharge is about $100.
AC recharge means that all of the refrigerant in the system is removed and then the system is filled with new refrigerant. A competent AC guy is best for the job because he has the equipment to measure how much gas he is putting back in, so that the system doesn't get under- or over-charged.
You could also just have your AC "topped off" (like some people do at the gas pump), but the only time this would be a good idea is if you're sure there isn't a leak or anything else wrong. Usually the only time that the gas in your AC will get low is when there's a leak, but sometimes excessive use and hot weather over time may cause your AC to need juiced up a little bit. If you juice it up and it's all good for a while and then goes back to blowing more hot air than my girlfriend's mom at dinner time, then there's probably a leak.
Ask whoever said your AC needs recharged if there's a leak. If they don't know or didn't even check, then tell them thanks and take it somewhere capable of doing good AC work to get it checked out. There's no point in recharging the system if it's just going to leak out again.
