Blower motor

I was wondering if any of you guys have had the blower motor for your a/c or heater changed before? My a/c stopped working a few weeks ago and i went to my mechanic to have it checked out and he said all my fuses we're fine and it has to be my blower motor. He said it would be a minimum of $1000 and most places will refuse to do the work like he did because it's a lot of labor and theres too many little things to deal with because it involved removing most if not all the dash. So have any of you guys had this changed before and around how much was it...I don't want to go to a dealership but it looks like i have to

I had this same exact probLem. When I test drove the car before buying it, the A/C was cold but there was very little airflow. Luckily, I got the dealer to fix the problem by replacing the blower motor before I bought the car and they did say it was a big job. I think the part alone was a couple hundred bucks (CDN). After trying to take apart the dash to re-wire the speakers, I don't think it's an easy job.

Been there done THAT!

Yea... i had that problem on my 97 2.5. i bought mine from the aution and didnt notice the problem until a few months after i bought the car. It cost me about 800 dollars to get fixed, and yea they took the whole dash board out. it took them about a week to fix it. There are ac pipings that are connected to the dash board so.. that took some more time and money. sorry that ur goin through it. Maybe we should write to Acura and tell them that thier designing SUX and that they seriously need to boost thier engineering, cuz they r way behind compared to Lexus and Infinity. Peace out

Even if we told acura their design sucks it isn't going to help me with my problem now. Just wondering though was $800 from a dealership or independant shop ?

I know people who own Infinitis and Lexuses (Lexii ?)

They have problems too. I'd say Acura and Infiniti tie and Lexus beats both by a bit but lets not start ragging on Honda/Acura, they're among the most reliable AND most excting brands.

Yeah, believe me, there are worse cars to work on. ALL higher level cars tend to have more expensive parts, and it never fails that they are harder to replace, therefore labour is more. Be thankful that the engines in our cars are relatively easy to get to/work on. Lots of cars at lower levels cost more to repair for major work...

yea i know the tl is easier to work on then some other cars...the mechanics kept on telling me it was easier to do an engine swap then change the blower motor. but i dont think i can get this fixed til summer because i cant have the downtime right now... so it just gives me time to save up anyways
