Time for some more work

Ok, here the deal
1. my front left shock is shot on my 04 RL. I went to a local place and they quoted me $647 for just the front! Is that normal? Anyhow, I decided it would be best to replace all four at once. I'm looking for an oem feel/look but not sure how much or which brand I should go with.

2. I found a set of 18x8 +55mm offset rims but not sure what size tires I should run Any input is welcomed

What kind did you replace your oem with? I'm not looking for anything fancy more of an oem feel

$647 for one strut... or spend $200 more and get adjustable coilovers by K-Sport and drop the car and throw it on the softer settings and enjoy.

As for the wheels... (+55) offset... JESUS. Were they off for a Mazda? That is extremely high.

I'm on 18" wheels and I'm running 18x8.5 (+30) and have no problems with them. If you run a (+55) you will probably need to throw on bolt on spacers, maybe (15mm - 20mm) to push the wheels out a bit to reach the fenders.

K-sport coilovers... Yes, they will fit our RL.

That's what I was thinking when I saw+55. Here's the wheel.

I went with KYB. Not sure of how well they perform on an RL. I thought about getting Koni Red

So you bought the struts but no springs to match it?

and those wheels are good wheels to use... but at the same time... "minor bend that still hold air good" would have me walk away instantly. I've dealt with a bent rim before... not worth the work to fix it unless it's a nicer wheel.

Also look for Lexus wheels and Mustang wheels since they are about the offset and the lug pattern that you are looking for 5x114.

Haven't bought them yet. I was going more for the oem setup but if I need to buy new springs I can. I don't plan to lower or anything like that. I think I'll leave those be. Maybe an RDX wheel or something similar to that mustang one yo have. Keep in mind this is the wifes car so she just wants it back the way it came from the factory.

Ok, that makes sense. Lowered cars aren't for everyone.

but there's a huge difference between slightly and tastefully lowered and slammed to the ground.

That said, I convinced wife to do springs on her accord and she was very happy with the look. Her front bumper wasn't too happy about how often she scraped it though.

That's a LOT of money for labor...buy the shocks yourself and go see another mechanic. You should NOT pay more than $300 labor for install on ALL FOUR!

Found a guy that will do it for $190 labor. Getting the tranny mount replaced in the morning and shocks in the afternoon; mobile 1 synthetic oil change by the evening and a complete wash/was and detail

Once you go synthetic, you can never go back...

Does the Ksport pro coilover come with the adjustable camber plate?

I know that this is an older thread, but I am in this exact situation right now. I need to get together parts for a family member that wants their 99 RL suspension as stock as possible. The front end is starting to bounce going through bumps. Would it be a better investment to get a newer shock, such as the ones from an 02-04 RL, or just stick with the stock part available for a 99 RL? The ride height will not be changed, as she doesn't want it lowered at all.
