Hi Gurus,

I have a 98 RL and it is going strong still 178K miles. Recently i noticed a weird noise while switching my A/C on.

Normally on a freezing days, i put the mode as "A/C OFF" and turn On the heater (red)..

while cruising whenever i put "A/C ECON" Mode i am hearing some loud siren noise for around 10 seconds...

This scars the hell out of me...Could you please tell me what might be the problem?

It ONLY does when engaging the A/C?

 

Yes it does when engaging A/C while switching on the engine with A/C on or while crusing.. it does not happen every day...but sometimes...often

 

Check the belts, listen to see if they screech when the A/C comes on.

Might need to have something there fixed or adjusted.

I'm almost sure it's coming from the outside air door (behind the glove compartment). The loud noise is actually very common in some RL's and TL's. Replacement would cost you some bucks, otherwise it should be fine, it's just the door getting old. Let me know if you got that taken care of.

i will check the air door as u said. Have u faced this similar problem in ur RL or TL? Also these days i am switching mu A/C off and the lound noise went off....
