Help on wire harness for aftermarket head unit.

Hello, I have a base 96 Acura RL and I want to install a Pioneer AVH P1400DVD double din for my car. Here is the Pioneer headunit
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P140...avf=N&skipvs=T
Is this the wire harness I need in order to make the aftermarket head unit work? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207017...l#overview-tab
I don't know if this will work because I believe the car have a Bose amplifier. If anyone has installed an aftermarket head unit in their RL, please tell me what harness did you used. Thanks.

No you're going to need a PAC-HON

http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=26

$53 bucks

You'll need to squeeze that adapter somewhere behind the headunit, it'll be a tight fit but it can be done.

Basically you don't have to cut/splice at all. You retain ALL factory wiring.

Wait a minute, how come the pic you posted is different from the link. So I should get the one without the RCA cables right, the RCA cables are to connect to an external amp right? Just want double check

I have one in my closet that I have been trying to get rid of. I had it in my RL but decided to go with my direct connect set up. I just trying to give it to someone who can make use of it. PM me if you are interested in it.

I would like to get your, but I've found one brand new that is pretty cheap and they only have one left. If they run out then I might get it from you, thank though. Ken is this the right one?

Can you also please read the customers review on the product too. So basically after you install this PAC-hon harness, you need to fine tune in order to get rid of the pop and the volume problem...

Yea man that's the one. Its barely used. I don't want any money for it, just if you are willing to pay the shipping then you can have it. As I said before its doing me no good sitting in the closet (plus the wife wants me to clean it out anyways!!) but yea if you can use it, it's yours.

I ordered my head unit already and it should be here next Tuesday. I can't wait to get it install! I got the PAC ROEM HON harness already, the shipping was super fast! BTW. I'm not sure if my RL have a Bose amplifier or not. How can I tell? I guess I have to remove the rear seat and search for the amp. Anyway, it has 6discs changer, a separate tweeter near the interior door handle, and no heated seat (i've also noticed some RL don't have a separate tweeter near the interior door handle). So, I still need to use PAC ROEM HON harness regardless it has a Bose amp or not? Either way i'm going to get it install by a pro. I'm just want to make sure so that the shop don't ripping me off. Thanks

Ok, here is what I found. On the right side I found a small silver box just like the size of most HID ballast, and on the left side I found a small black box. So is that an amplifier? It looks kind of small to be an amplifier. I'll try to take a pic later.

It should be the one with the most wires in the harness. I know messing with those bose amps without a wiring diagram can be a serious pain in the rear.

Great, I don't think my RL have a Bose amp. I compared my silver box on the right with the Bose amp, and it looks totally difference.
Here is the OEM Bose amp

It even has a sticker

And here is the silver box in the right side of my car, I have no idea what is it.

So can I still use the PAC HON harness even though my car don't have the amp or do i need to use the regular scosche harness? Thx.

Does it say bose anywhere in the car, i.e. the speaker grilles or the the backs of the speakers themselves. If not then you should be fine. I put the harness in mines along with my double din Sony and it was a straight pain trying to find a spot to tuck it away. I went without it, but I am using my own amplifiers too.

No Bose sticker to be found on head unit or speaker grilles, so it is indeed a base model without the Bose amp. BTW, what do you mean it will be fine? I kind of confuse here a little bit, so I can still be able to use the PAC harness rite?

You dont need the pac harness. Its just to bypass the factory amplifier that is not present.

Another thing to take note of the is the impedance on the speakers is usually 8 ohms straight from the factory. That versus the power from the radio's amp will more than likely be cut in half (please correct me if I'm mistaken). There might or should be some variation in sound quality.

But it sounds like you are on track anyways, sorry for all the tech stuff I still install fo other people as a hobby and I worked for Circuit City for 7 years as an installer before they tanked.

Good to know and thanks for the tech stuff lol. The HU should arrives tomorrow along with the front lip! As for the speaker, yes I do plan to upgrade for Polk audio component speaker in the front and a 6x9 in the rear deck in the future. As for now, I have to taken care of the coilover and ball joints first.
