Help with Instrument Cluster Removal

CAR: 2002 3.5RL

I am wondering how to remove the instrument cluster...or better yet, just the black plastic trim around it. I am under the impression that there are just the 2 screws on the top of the trim and you should be able to pull it out.

I took the 2 screws out but it looks as if the wood trim near the center A/C Vents is connected to it, or wants to come out with it. I could give it a good yank, but I am afraid of snapping the trim. Anybody done this? I am looking to replace the stock bulbs for the cluster with white LEDs.

www.superbrightleds.com

Go to any Buy Now Button
Go to the second page
Look for WLED 5-LED Wide Angle LED Bulb.

Not sure as to how many...I am heading to Acura tomorrow so I am going to get someone to show me how to remove it.

finished yet?

Hey! I was wondering if you finished installing the LED's in your instrument cluster yet!? I wanted to do that, but replace the stock bulbs with blue LED's to give it a "cool" look. I've taken apart most of the interior of my car, with help from a buddy that works as a mechanic at one of the two Acura dealers here. a few random bulbs in the cluster went out so they were annoying me. I went to the site (this was a while back, I found that superbriteled's site and looked for what bulbs would be required for a 97 RL's instrument cluster, for the "general" bulbs behind it. There are 10 bulbs in total behind there, 4 for the left, 4 for the center, and 2 for the right sides of the instrument cluster. What happened was awhile ago I bought ONE replacement bulb from the dealer for $12 CDN, and I opened it up, and replaced that bulb, whilst being gentle, etc...and then turned it on and voila.....the new bulb worked, and the OTHER 9 all burned out!! So I couldn't see my speedometer at night or anything....hehe....so yes. Sufficed to say I had to go buy the other 9 bulbs, cuz I wanted my car to be perfect.....spent close to 200 dollars for all 9 of them (plus a couple of switch lights - YIKES!!!).......put em all in and they are brighter than the older ones that were in there before. I do still want to replace them with blue LED's though. But, from that site one of you posted, I have NO idea which lights to order for those particular 10 bulbs or anything.

One more thing.....I'm not sure if anybody has come across this....but my clock all of a sudden stopped working. It's kind of a trivial thing, I wear a watch and all, but once my clock burned out I realized how much I "depended" on it....now I'm wondering if the TINY TINY bulb inside it just needs to be replaced......and if that's even possible (I haven't tried to pull it out cuz it looks like I could break the chipboard it's embedded in)...or is my clock assembly just buggered? Those are about 400 CDN to replace..........so I dunno. Lemme know guys! And post pics if you've finished your LED upgrade!

I never did it...I decided to hold back on that. I am replacing all the other bulbs first with white ones (dome, rear dome, panel lights, license plate.)

Thanks for the link. That saved me ton of money in broken dash parts. Do you happen to have any more links to more pages?? I need to disassemble the center console and that appears on page 20-48.

If not thanks for the post.
